ITGuy's 2003 Sierra 1500/2500 4x4 RCLB Build Thread

I know some of the shops around here have stacked blocks on full powder and chrome builds. But I would never want to do that because you are putting all that stress on those little center pins to hold everything together.

With your lift, there should be no need for anything taller than a 4" block in the rear.

Get a zero rate instead of stacking blocks or get a 3" block. Would hate for the front to done right and then the back to not.

get deaver leaf packs and a set of sulastic shackles to make it ride smoother prawfit ...well not really :spendmonies: more like it :cheeky:

Right now I am struggling with shift linkage. Even after adding all the slack I can get from tensioner it doesn't have enough reach for park. Also flipped the bracket, better but still no luck. About 1 gear off in distance needed. I'll have to keep moving and come back to it.

Just blew at least 2 hours on that.

Received my bump stops for front (small, may not work), LEDs for fixing cluster and my cheap set of lugs to beat up until the nice ones arrive.

The ones on the UCA a just plastic. I'll snap a pic. The ones I am installing have more cushion.

Edit: scratch that, leaving Cognitos in for now until I can test them.

With a lift set any higher than stock it's very hard to ever hit the bump stops. I have some poly ones on the lower part of my lift kit too

Rethinking the lift block thing, didn't you get a rough country leveling kit for the 1500 with keys, blocks and shocks, if you did go rob the 3" tapered blocks from the 1500.

Yes, I believe it does have 3" blocks. I may do that.

Yeah there is a lot of clearance either way!

- New vacuum line installed on diff
- New bump stops installed on LCA
- Torsion bars are installed
- Torsion bar cross member installed
- Torsion keys on, but not torqued. {They are hanging out a lot more then I remember.}

In the process of verifying the torsion bars are installed correctly. I don't want to make any more mistakes.
I do see on the passenger side the 'R' with the clockwise arrow. That's the direction it gets cranked.
Also when fitting the keys, they only seemed to go on in one position. Next notch up was near the top of the cross member.

A few more minutes of reading then going back down to crank them and install the torsion bolts.

Banged up a bit of paint on the tbars but i will touch them up after everything is installed properly and it can dry overnight.

Next up is the Sway bar install, if i can just get through this.
