ITGuy's 2003 Sierra 1500/2500 4x4 RCLB Build Thread

I am using my gf's Toyota Corolla as a DD at the moment. When she gets back from her business trip, I'll look at getting another DD for myself.

[Edit] Sorry, uploading better pics...

Hood looks a little funny at this angle, but it has more of a curve in it.
I did mask it out around the Denali headlight and the edge of the grills center section. Something like the crappy drawing below..

It looks like they have already sprayed the rock guard along the bottom. It's really hard to see in the pics.

Nice. Glad you've got a quality bodyshop. There's so many shitty ones out there, I'll be so freaking paranoid if/when I ever have a car painted

I think its good of a shop to let an interested customer do a walk around. Even asking how I wanted to approach different areas.. Like the rock guard.. Or just doing the lip of the bed vs worrying about spraying it.

Makes me feel better inspecting the work, not that I am a pro or anything.

Yeah that's an awesome shop if they let you do that and ask your input on how you'd like to see something done rather than just assuming they know it all and you know nothing. I'm impressed so far, can't wait to see the results

That looks like a good body shop for sure. Only thing I'm not impressed withh is you should tell them to unbolt the rear bumper and remove it completely. It's not hard to do that way they can paint those rear quarters where it is covering.

I agree. I'll offer to go in and remove it in the morning unless they plan on removing it. It looks like it was still in process when I viewed it.

I was planning on taking the damn thing off on Sunday before dropping it off but just ran out of time. It's not even bolted on uber tight. Thanks for the heads up.

[EDIT] Bumper is off. I asked my contact if they were going to remove it, and he said yes.
I removed it anyway and tossed it in the car.

[Edit 2] Going back through thread and cleaning up posts. I realize I 'wander' with my thread and it's probably shit to read. I'll try to stay on topic and post more content and less drivel. I think I just get excited like a kid again at the prospect of new mods, parts and goodies. :motion:

Cleaning my garage a bit today. Decided to put the grinder to one of the fenders I pulled off the 2006 cab.
The fenders had the stock flares. I grinded away some paint just to show you some good ol' Northeast Corrosion.

This fender is 8 years old, it saw 7 winters in Connecticut.

The actual area effected is about an inch into the "good" paint all the way around where the top of the flare was.
Some of it just crumbled away under the grinder and created huge holes. It will be going into Le Garbage.

:scared:

[Video] Also fired up the "remnants. lol After charging the battery it ran good.

You can see the rock guard in this picture. It's under the paint, and wraps underneath the rocker and back fenders.

Well next pics will be reassembled.

They did a pretty good job. I give them a 7.5 to 8.0
There are a couple of spots that I will need to polish later and cleanup.
Also dust etc inside the cab from people getting in and out of vehicle.
Batteries were low / dead from leaving accessories on I think.
Someone accidentally put the power window up (without the glass installed) and it popped off track.

I'll give the vehicle a good 'going over' after work and look for blemishes / contaminants etc.
I'm pretty happy so far.
