Dean's '11 Crew Cab Budget Build

I have a really light tint on the front two. Not sure on %, was on there when I bought it. One day I'll get them redone to match the back 3.

Added a couple things over the weekend and have some others in the works. Going to try to get some pictures tomorrow.

Got a steal on an undercover bedcover. Paid 250 for it and it is in really good shape. Its not exactly what I wanted, but it will work until I can drop 900 on a bed cover. Unfortunately, there are different models for the sierra/Silverado. This one is for the sierra, so there is some large gapping towards the rear sides of the bed. Other than that it fits well.

To make the bed cover work, I had to get a smooth style Tailgate cap. It looks 100x better than the winged cap.

Things in the works

Picked up some bed lights to go with the bed cover, but just trying to decide on how to wire them. I bought some battery clips that will push the required 12v, but just have to figure out where I want everything.

Lastly, I have a $25 credit at thesuspensionsource.com and I think I'm going to put it towards new shocks for when the drop goes on. I can get nitro drop 2's or belltech Sp's. Are the Sp's worth the extra $40?

So a hail storm blew through last night like I've never seen before. Afterwards, I went through to look everything over.

Found some light damage to the house (mainly busted siding) but nothing major. Couldn't really see any damage to the truck.

Fast forward to lunch today at work - we were talking about the storm when someone mentioned some dents in my hood. Went out to look it over and this is whati found.

Count is as follows:
Tailgate-1
Hood-9+
Roof-12+

I'm going to try to get with insurance to see what they cover and go from there.
Really getting down about this truck. Haven't even had it a year yet and I've crushed the front with a deer, gone through a motor and now this.....

Finally got insurance to do their estimate on damages. Most of the body panels will get paintless dent removal, but I'll be getting a new hood, which they will paint and blend it into the fenders.

Since they are going to be painting the hood, is there anything I should try to get painted too? I'm for sure going to try to get the grille emblem, but what else?

About time I update this since I'm finally getting excited about it again.

Since insurance has allowed $500 for a new hood, I've decided to do an HD swap. I'm doing the hood and a chrome grille with a color matched emblem. I've already got everything basically priced out and I should be able to get absolutely everything for around $580. Working on the final negotiations on some parts, then orders will be placed. The truck goes to the shop next Tuesday, so I should have it finished by the end of next week. Going to try to get the shackles put on too. Here's what it should look like when its done.

Hood is ordered. Decided to go on and go with CAPA since it was only 50 bucks more. Picking it up tomorrow and putting it on Thursday night. If it fits and lines up, I'll be ordering everything else.

Picked up the hood last night and got it put on. Fits like a glove. I don't have it aligned yet, but not too worried about it since the body shop will have to take it off anyways.

My parts guy is ordering the grille and I should have it sometime this weekend. I'll be ordering the rest of the trim today as well.

Ginger, I'm doing chrome. Didn't have it in the budget to do full colormatch

Techi I'm going to look it over really well when I get it back. Insurance is supposed to cover it if they end up having to do conventional. Most of the body isn't bad, the roof took the brunt of it.

All parts have been ordered now. The bowtie will be here Saturday and the rest will be here sometime next week.

In the mean time, what would be the best kind of tape to cover up the holes in the hood in case it rains before I get it to the body shop?

All packages have shipped. Everything should basically be here Monday, the day I drop the truck off at the shop :( . should have it all back together the day I get it back though.

Bowtie came in on Sat and picked up the grille yesterday. Put it all on at 11 last night cause I couldn't wait :cheeky:

Dropping it off at the body shop when I get off. Hopefully I'll get it back in a couple days. I just hope they get it right the first time so I don't have to make them keep it longer.

Finally got the truck back today and it looks great. It started raining when I picked it up, so I only got one decent picture. I hope to do a photoshoot in the next day or two if the weather cooperates.
