My first truck! 04 Chevro...no wait...yes...no...wait..

Why not just turn it down before the bumper? Thats what I did and its completely hidden without the dump noise or vibration. The pipes hightened the pitch just a tad though.

Theres no way you need 3" pipes with a stock motor...youre gunna have no backpressure. Even with the mods I have on my 5.3 3" exhaust would still would still sound bad.

My 5.3 came with 3" stock. I'm running 3" pipes all through and it's fine

I have 3" single after the y pipe on my 4.8 with the only other mod being an intake  sounds awesome and gets that nice back pressure crack when I slow down

dat new/used smooth cap. Thanks again Brandosoraus.

welp, I just got back from a trip to Nebraska with the truck and she did pretty good. pulled a trailer with my four wheeler the whole 1500 miles. BUT, 3-4 clutch is just about gone (It starting going about halfway to NE, kinda surprised it made it home) so it's going in the shop tomorrow morning for the rebuild. I'll probably have the transfer case serviced and the diff fluids changed and have them check the rear diff to see how much longer it has. :spendmonies:

Welsh suggested a vette servo, hardheaded sunshell, red clutches, and a shift kit. I have very little knowledge about transmissions so I'm trying to learn as much as I can as fast as I can.

I'd definitely do tb i6 converter and servo. Can get both new for under $200. All oem parts as well.

I figure it this way, building it more than what's needed wont hurt you.

Except the converter. Lol.

Like I said in my Facebook message, if you decide to motor swap and build it, you can change the converter at that time. Do the red clutches now and not worry about having to tear apart the tranny at the same time you're trying to build a motor. lol

Probably going to stick with a stock tc because this motor is staying stock (building next motor up) but definitely getting Alto red clutches, vette servo, hardened sunshell, and a shift kit. Devin's on point, I'd rather wait and swap the tc when I put in 2nd motor. this converter is already too high of a stall and motor is too weak to break the tires loose :okay:

Why u say the stock converter is too high of a stall? A trailblazer converter would help you "break the tires loose." Would also help the truck get up and go. Ask me how I know hah

Put a higher stall behind a factory motor and it's gonna be a dog.

His truck doesn't make enough power to justify a high stall converter. It's a constant dog across all RPM's. lol
