ITGuy's 2003 Sierra 1500/2500 4x4 RCLB Build Thread

update:
installed fog light wiring to the firewall. I did test them to make certain they worked.
(Harness was not long enough so I soldered on some extensions..nothing ever fits.)
Topcoated front cross members and frame.
Installed top and bottom bumpers.
(I didn't get to use 1/2 inch spacers yet. They will require more bracket modification than I planned.)
I had to do some more trimming to the front of the wells - maybe 3/8" more.

Getting a bath and washing off dust etc.

Thanks.

Tomorrow I plan to finish securing the fog light wiring, and installing the switches in cab.
If I can get tow mirrors painted, I'll install colormatched door handles and gate handle while I wait for them to dry.

Need to buy the clips to hold the plate.

I'm going to make some final adjustments to my ride height today.
Getting an alignment tomorrow morning. Won't be long before I switch over to winter tires & rims either.

haha yeah, i got mine mounted and balanced, i forgot to take pictures though before i sent them home  oh well

Looks great bud.

A little bit of advice for taking pics: make sure the sun is behind you, not like in that last pic. It'll be much better and it'll show off all the work you've done :shake:

:datass: looks great Ryan! makes me wish I got Terra Grapplers for the predators. Are you doing c/m'd handles or escalades? I mayt have missed it if you already said but I think esky's will go great with the chrome on the front end and the preds. Just my 2 cents.

Painting mirrors today - 600 grit sand ended up just being a light scuffing on the mirrors.
Just layed down three coats and it looks pretty smooth so far.. although I see a few small particles here and there.
Probably just dust I kicked up. Same happened on the bumper but it came out with few blemishes.

I shouldn't have any issues polishing it once the clear has been layed down.
I'll be doing that later this evening and then let it sit for another day.

The cold air might mess with it a little but it's hard to tell until it's dry.
I can always 1500-2000 grit sand and polish when all is said and done.
I think I am being too picky... given the rest of the truck needs a paint job haha.

And yes I have Esky door handles / gate already colormatched.
I was waiting to have mirrors finished to install everything at once.

I was worried about having too much chrome, but so far it looks good with the red.

Thanks for the feedback!

I'll let the mirrors hang overnight and clear them tomorrow. These shots show the surface before I lay down the clear.
They look smoother than my bumper (which came out great) which hopefully translates into a nice finish.
