not sure if you would know but how easy is it to get that backing plate where the 7-round is mounted on off? mine has a rust bubble and i wanna either make a new one or try and repaint it.

The trailer harness plug backing plate? It's part of the bumper... you have to take the middle plastic section off to get access to it. Do that, sand it down, and repaint, prawfit.

hopefully it isnt too hard to get to, thanks.

It isn't, I'd just take all the plastic off to get to it so you can clean underneath them while you're at it. Get under there with a pair of pliers to squeeze the clips together and the caps just pop right off. <10 minute job. There isn't, however, an easy way to completely take off the middle section since the spare tire crack piece doesn't go through the plastic. When I had my plastic painted, I had to cut around it with a dremel to get it off. I think you should be able to lift it up/pull it away enough to sand/paint the metal behind it though.

Just not one for simply removed eyesores :imo:
It isn't an eyesore to me, I don't even pay attention to it.
this is how mine is: matched up front, red in rear - it flows with the red tails pretty well
word, never been bothersome to me. The only reason why I am removing eventually, is I wanted the gate clean. I'm getting a new cap and painting it white.
