Blah.... Haven't posted on here in a while. Have been demolding for a while and it's been giving me fits. Used weedwhacker line to take the molding off, but it looks like the guys at the factory put the moldings on before the damn paint dried. Paint chips left and right.... Shoulda expected it from an 18 year old truck
Absolutely gave me fits. It was the worst thing I've had to do on this truck.
Chrome arches weren't bad at all. Very dirty underneath, but buffed out nicely. Anyways, after using an eraser wheel to get the glue off, this is what I am left with
Lots of paint chips... Got quoted $450 to have it painted, but I would rather save up for wheels, so I am painting it myself..... I know, I'm a dumbass. After using a buffer wheel and a ton of Meguire's paint cleaner, I have a petty ok surface to touch up on. Already started the first coat on the passenger side. Needs to be buffed again and then second coat and repeat. Looks good from far, but far from good.
It'll get there eventually..... No hope for tailgate. Gonna eventually have it completely shaved when I have more money to my name. Guy who owned truck before me ruined that poor gate
Finally working on truck again and it feels good. Getting smoothie front bumper and color matching it and rear bumper. Wondering if I should paint them, vinyl wrap them, or powdercoat them.... Any suggestions? OH and any clue how to get less gap here? Sick of grille looking so messed up like this
