Static NBS Thread 99-07c

So now that the truck is dropped I'm researching what tire setup to go with. My plan is this: Polished GMC 20s and some sticky tires. These will strictly be summer wheels&tires so I would really like some input based on that. I was looking at nitto 420s but am open to other suggestions. I'm trying to go for a sport truck that can rail corners and stick to the ground well.
 
Ive had a few sets.. I hated my Goodyear LS2 275/55/20's seemed like they wore more and more everyday. Had some Continental CrossContact UHP 275/55/20 or something like that and they lasted but dont really remember how good they cornered.. last set was a set of cooper discoverer h/t plus tires and I would not recommend them to someone who I wanted dead, they would spin in the rain under normal driving and everyone picked on me for the thread pattern looking like mud tires and granted offroad in the mud I never got stuck lol but by no means a good street tire like advertised. And they were super soft and wore really quick, they cornwred good when it wasnt wet but I just really didnt like that tire. Now these Falken ST/Z04 tires I have in 265/35/23 seem to be doing the job on corners and in the rain they only spin if I punch it sirting at a red light and hook not far into 2nd gear, can't get these to spin when doing a 35 mph roll in rain. But dont know how they last as I just got them. If your 3/6 or 4/7 or anything around those drops get 275/45's they fill fenders perfect and ride really good. But if you go 6/8 I dont recommend them haha..

I like my 420s. Only had them for about 4 mounths they been good so far. The tread looks awesome too.
 
I'm leaning towards them honestly. They look good and seem to perform well. I have time to shop and compare though

X2 on the Falkens, only tire I run on my trucks now. If you staying at 4/6 then go with a 275/45, if you want to go lower I'd do a 275/40.
 
I'm 5/9.5 on 275/45s and the only time I ever it is on big bumps or dips in the front, maybe because I'm 4wd and maybe the ride is a little stiffer from the torsion bars :shrug: any lower and 45s would definitely be too big though
 
We pulled into raising canes and I heard mine hit, then sounded like dragging. Bent the fender lip out then proceeded to cut gashes in my tire.

Never had any problems pulling fenders on mine (knock on wood) mine aren't even rolled yet
 
Mini tub, roll fender. Ill add to the tire talk, I have toyo proxes stii, they wear awesome. Had on my first 22s, got smaller on my tbss wheels, swaped them to silvy, easily 20k plus on them w a ton of tread left, as was the case on my obs at 30k. Have another set on the new wheels for my obs as well.

Mine did at once when I first dropped truck but easy fix, minitub and roll fender then went 6" and starting tucking tire lol... i ran my 275/45 forever but do recommend 40's for comfort... but I think its cool to tuck tire static. :shrug:
