Would never use that hood... Hood will stay stock or will have a small cowl if needed for clearance issues. Just found that rendering of a 73' looking for ideas so figured I'd save and post.
A lot of things won't happen for awhile but really just wanting something to stare at/dream about so going to get Angelo to make me a render but asking for a few of your opinions....
Was originally going to paint it back the green it currently is because my dad loves it so much and I like it but not sure that's the color I want to go with. I want a little more of a head turning but not too outrageous color.
Love the color purple so thinking about purple.... But with or without stripes? I'm leaning towards stripes but maybe on side along bottom?

Also been trying to find rim ideas. Reallyyy like these welds but fully polished; welds site doesn't list them without black center but I'm sure it's doable.

Deeeep purple, no stripes, polished pro touring style wheel imo.

Reason why no stripes? Just think no stripes looks plain but at same time I like it or no stripes other than one on down the side near bottom.
Def protouring style, I love the welds I posted, just curious on other styles people might like.

however I dont think either of the wheel choices you posted look bad either. If you do purple, its gotta be dark. I think the classic cars are one of the few cars that can pull off those colors.

LOVEEEE those Welds. I vote those lol. Also vote for no stripes, protouring and rallye stripes just don't really mesh well IMO
No stripes fa sho. I suggest you join protouring.Com there are a lot of awesome, knowledgeable guys there. You stand to benefit greatly. A lot of the guys I ran with at cruisin the smokies were protouring guys.

I do as well but unsure how I feel about the black face and not sure if they offer it without yet. I kind of agree with you, just didn't know if one solid color would be too plain.
What about a small stripe at bottom like this guy was thinking about that said LSx or something like that?
I've browsed that site but never joined, I'll probably join up though. Need to definitely do some research. So far Steves Nova Site has helped but not all are protouring and that's what I want my car to be for sure.

I just mean any purple that isnt regular pruple ( think purple marker ) or lighter. Dark and deep purples are excellent on those cars.
I would say a very dark, deep metallic purple that isn't obviously purple unless in the sunlight. Kinda like the LAVA red that ford had in 2010-2011 on the mustang. Looked dark charcoal grey till the light hit it.
If you're feeling like it's too plain with no stripes and you really do like rallye stripes, maybe do some ghosted silver ones under the purple. Throw a little extra flake in them so they really catch the light but aren't flat out obvious. Maybe? I can picture it in my head and it looks pretty good anyways :rofl:

Completely agree though, love those colors when done right on the right car. I'm 6 for one and half a dozen for the other when it comes to rallye stripes, I like them but I also don't have to have them. Just need to dig some more and find more of these cars with and without them to sway myself on stripes or not. Leaning more towards no stripes because I kind of don't want that color clashing with interior color if I do a lighter brown or cream or anything.
Still trying to find exactly what I want so I can get a render done. Did some more digging and really like these concave forgeline wheels. You can customize faces, etc but just seem to like the design..

Hahaha, don't think I'd call it that but def want a fun pro touring car in a few years when I'm "done"
Have still been debating on pulling out the welding machine and getting a gas setup to practice with to try and save some money and just to overall have the skill to do small things one day. I spoke with Johnny-O at the CGM meet about doing several things when money allowed and he said we could work a deal/figure out a price when the time comes, however part of me wants to try and do some myself but we shall see when the time comes. Leaning more towards him doing it for now depending on what it is.
Sat last weekend aside to work on the nova, was going to take off front fenders to see about rust as well as take off dash pad and rear deck lid but ended up having things come up one day and having to work on my truck another to fix some things.
Did manage to snag a few pics of main rust spots, other than what I've already shown from the inside and rear taillight panel. Some is surface, others will need to be cut out..

Driver side fender is definitely the worst. Hoping to not run into some of the nightmares I've seen on a Nova Forum.

Me too! Can't decide between painted or chrome bumpers eventually now. Long time to decide, I know. Lol.

Definitely plans for it and 100% plan on finishing it, just will be slow until funds allow.
One of the people who owned my car after me found some paperwork they had held onto, it's the receipt from where the car was bought, shows what they traded in, etc. Its at my dads, I'll post when I get it.
Also updated post #3 and going to use it to link other builds/threads that have helped me, if any of ya'll want some good reading material. These are what I have so far.
Romancommander and his 73' nova thread, he did a pretty extensive restoration that as of today (September 2015), is still a work in progress. He's done some pretty sweet subtle modifications and is a wealth of knowledge. Love the bumpers and grille
