The bad thing is, I found 2 1500hd's reasonably priced within a 2 hour drive just now when looking...faaaaaak
Never understood the difference. It's axles, engine and trans from HD with 1500 suspension right?

More or less yeah. It's the same as a light duty 2500.

Crew cab 1500s are 5'8", so you gain 10" (heh) going to the 1500hd.

6.0, 4L80e, 9.5" semi floater, crew cab 6.5' bed and the frame is 2500 suspension and leaf springs, but it's not 2" taller on top like a 2500 hd, it is the same height as the 1500 frames and uses 1500 front end.
And the biggest one is it uses the 9.5" semi floater not the 10.5" full floater that the gas 2500hd uses
