So I actually started on this today. I know, it's surprising seeing as this thread has how many posts and all I've done is a drop and long tubes :roflfp:
Final start up of the 4.8, just to pull it in the garage.

Current resting place
Took off the fan shroud to get better access. My radiator did not have a drain plug, so I had to remove the lower rad hose to start draining coolant.
You can see some crap that has built up under the rad over time. Pulled the rad as I'm swapping to efans and the larger rad.
Didn't take too many pics today, but essentially my goal was to get as much unplugged, unbolted, and stripped away as possible.
In the process of removing the intake, I found a friend.
I appropriately named him peanut.
Cleaned him up and then took off the intake.
Quite a bit of shit gets stuffed under there. I vacuumed it all up and closed off the intake ports. I pulled the intake so it's easier to swing the motor out and use the lift.
No more pictures as I got too focused on getting shit done. Pulled the alt (reusing) and the water pump (because I didn't feel like fucking with removing the fan), and unbolted both the ac condenser and the ps pump/bracket and moved them out of the way. I left both hooked up because I do not plan on flushing/charging those systems. I took out the header bolts and moved them out of the way.
What I have left to do is unbolt the motor mounts, disconnect the starter wires, disconnect the rest of the harness that runs along the bottom of the motor, lower the tranny mount and probably my ypipe, remove my shifter and disconnect the driveshaft. I'm planning on pulling the trans also with the motor. Reason being is I'd rather align the clutch out in the shop vs lying on my back staring up at it and getting pissed off.
One part I still have to order is a new flywheel. I'll be ordering that later this week. That's it for today. Got a lot done in the ~4 hours I was out there. I'm not trying for an Olympic record so I don't mind taking my time. Gonna finishing getting everything unbolted during the week this week and set it up to be pulled. Next weekend is busy for me, so I likely won't make any progress then. Shooting for maybe the following weekend to be getting everything back in, but that all depends. Might be the week after.
Tl;dr: I took some stuff out of the engine bay today.
