Khaos' RCSB Thread

Just looking for a round about number.

I'm figuring heads to be $400 plus p&p, or buy new for $1200. Just trying to weigh my options.

Have a couple calls in to local places, one place that does tuning recommended one of the places I called. Just waiting to see what the $$ figure will be. Leaning towards the 799/243s so I can be around 11:1 comp

So the 243 heads you had milled, were those designed with dished pistons in mind and the new engine has flat tops?

I bought the 243s already milled 030. Originally intended for the 4.8 with a cam. Now with the milling on them, it would put the cr in the so-so area for pump gas. So stock 243s will do me just fine.

Advanced Inductions or WCCH for P&P and they have a core exchange so your wait time would be much less.
AI looks like they're in my budget. I like the sound of their 218cc cnc work, definitely gonna send an inquiry over.

Thanks for the direction.

How's your motor coming along? Wish I had the budget for your heads!
Done yet?

Glad to hear that. AI has had good results and very well known.

Mine is good. Broke a head stud on the final torque so I need to drill it out and replace them all. Then it's ready to drop in. Just had other stuff going on. The most reputable speed shop in the Seattle area asked me to start coming in on Saturdays to help out and to learn some tuning and work their AWD dyno so I'll be there Sat instead of working on my own stuff. Haha

Sucks about the stud, but that's a pretty unique experience to get to work there! As if we all didn't have enough distractions from our own projects haha, but at least this one is awesome.

Nothing exciting to report yet, just opened the 20 boxes I had stacked in the garage to make sure I had everything I need. Heads should be to me this week, then I need to get them out to AI. Need to drop my valve covers at powder too.

I was bored so I partially assembled my intake and rails. The Holley rails are sweet. I have to see how I am going to secure them, seeing as the rail sits well below the intake mounting bosses. Got the flex fuel injectors cleaned up and set in there too so I have an idea of what height I'm working with for mounting the rails.

Just ordered some fuel fittings and line last night, along with some misc hardware. I am pretty sure I have 98% of the hard parts I need now. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but that's what overnight shipping is for.

That's my dad's project that will never be done. 59 Chevy. He's had it for longer than I've been around lol.
