ITGuy's 2003 Sierra 1500/2500 4x4 RCLB Build Thread

Thank you. I would be doing EGR full delete for sure along with PCV reroute + an Lb7 Up Pipe at the very least. I can go in and do that later though. I don't suspect it will be so hard removing the downpipe again as the stocker.

I am hoping to see some cumulative gains from the exhaust + downpipe combo.

you will see some gains but i suggest once you are done the basic mods get an dsp5 EFI live tune from Idaho Rob or Kory Willis they are both know for amazing tunes.

i would not go over a 120hp tune from them because you will limp your tranny even with the transgo jr

I would definitely go with stainless exhaust considering how bad your other truck rotted lol. And my vote is for rear side exit/stock just with the tip tucked nicely

Stick with 4" exhaust, the 5" just makes it louder and more annoying which I assume is something you don't want. The 3" dp will also be plenty because the turbo outlet works the same as headers you have to step up the pipe sizes as you go back to keep up the exhaust gas velocity. With a downpipe and silencer delete on the intake you will notice a big change in turbo sound, and it wont be a raspy when you get on it in my experience. But since you have the fenders off I would go ahead and do the egr delete and everything now while it's easy to get to it all. And the ppe airbox mod is great too, I've done all these things on my brothers '06 and it sounds and runs great.

I'll give Xtreme Diesel a call and talk to them about it as well. I'll get something that lasts and I won't need to upgrade even if I build up the HP.

I am going to do this in 2 stages - exhaust and downpipe first.. then go back in and do PCV, EGR+ Up Pipe, Tuner, etc
Too much for me at the moment.. still learning as i go, so it takes me a little while to do the work.

Comparison video 4" vs 5"
(I know it's on a cummins but it's a good comparison)

Axle Dump or Stock Location?

Appreciate the feedback on the sizes, placement. I think I made a good choice. You guys are helpful :high5:

By the way ext #201 @ Xtreme Diesel, Jeremy - very helpful, fast, gave me a discount for multiple parts + free t shirt.

Straight piped LBZs aren't too loud IMO. Sure when you're really into it it is, but that's the point lol. Should sound good with the MBRP kit though.

I can always do muffler delete with this system and try it out. :crossarms:

No more large items to purchase until I get my paintjob quotes in.
I've done some business with a local shop.. calling them in the morning to see if they can ballpark a price for me.
Gives me a budget to work with. She'll be ready to paint by the end of June I hope.

If I can borrow a flatbed, or get my brother to tow it I can do a ton of prep work and remove parts to speed up the process and save some $.

Cleaned up the outer tubing and installed new neck, vent and ground wire.
Treated the neck and surface with permatex before puting it back together.

Getting dark but it's bolted on.

As I swap parts I bolt them back onto the 1500. Easier to store them that way. Takes a little longer.
