Waiting on front tires, rear rims and mounting hardware.
 
Tires are going to be low profile for sure. Maybe too low?
Oh well. Hunting for some shocks.. maybe replace front springs with something a little stiffer.
Tired of bump stopping / banging on everything lol

OK found my shock info for the front, but couldn't get a reading off the front coil springs.
Also found the "bottoming out issue".

I am no lowering expert nor claim to be one anytime soon... but where I marked it with a red arrow, the LCA has only a few inches of travel and slams into the mount plate. Is this typical or can it be shaved and a bumpstop be installed maybe allowing for a little more travel?

I'll do a little research and take a look at what others are doing for their 3/5 and 4/6 drops.

I have a M1200GLL shocks on the front. That has a 12.50 Extended and a 8.45 Collapsed.

The front spindles look stock, so those coil springs could be 3" Drop.

I might cross reference the shock with a few others and buy a new set for front and rear.
Also debating on replacing front coil springs.

The Rear Coils are a 4" drop - Rear Shock is a 4095G 18.50 Extended and a 11.65 Collapsed.

My front shocks have upper stud mounts. I am going to buy a conversion kit so I can use eye & bushing.
That will allow me to move it a little and find more compatible shocks. I'll drill the frame and mount the brackets. Maybe I can weld them in. Kit's are like $40

I'll probably grab some cheap Monroe shocks in the meantime just to improve dampening.

Other wheels and tires arriving tomorrow. I'll remove the shocks tonight and go get a new set.

Today's project

Finishing shock removal today, inspecting linkages + doing lower control arm mod.
Need to pick up some replacement shocks in town.

Dropped tires and rims off to have them mounted and balanced and they should be finished today.

LCA trimmed bump stop and left a small piece for the steering stop. I'll go back and clean it up later, but works great.

The tires and rims came back perfect. They required very little weights to balance them.
The shop that mounted them made some remarks about how well they came out.

Matched up some Monroe 555002 shocks for the front and 33033 for the rear.
Shocks are close to the same travel as the drop shocks I have installed.

No rubbing, no bottoming out over bumps, steering stops still work great.
Rear tires are about 2" larger in diameter then the front and improved my cruising speed a little

So, the beater looks and drives a little better now!
