That estimate is so low it's sickening, I'd say your actual repairs are AT LEAST double. And I'd have NEVER took the check from ur insurance company. Her adjuster should have been there WITHIN days and had a check for you within Week or so after. They just bent you the fuck over hard dude. Any way you slice it you got shafted, sorry dude. As was said her insurance should have paid for a rental too. Not to be funny but did they think you are simple?

You are definitely getting screwed. I wouldn't accept the check. I would tell them to take the truck to an actual collision repair facility not just a body shop. They will check everything with the suspension and steering. Could easily need $2-3K in suspension and steering repair. Seen too many hack job accident repairs. Neighbor had his 335i repaired by a body shop his insurance told him to go to. Not only was the silver off the "replacement bmw parts" were the original parts hacked to shit and covered with Bondo. Later took it to a BMW Certified Collision center and dropped $6k to have the original "repair" fixed.
 
wow you guys are fucked. the front end isnt even apart yet and thats why nothing was written up for other things. the body shop will fill my insurance in if anything else is fucked especially when they go align it.
 
Uhhh...definitely would not accept a check until everything has been thoroughly checked. I've never heard of offering a check and then getting "filled in later" for extra costs from the body shop. This smells fishy as hell Geoff, just being honest. I don't like the sound of any of this
 
thats because the adjuster cant prove that theres anything wrong with those things at this time until things are taken apart. those things would be included in an amendment with the original amount, thats my understanding of things that were not in the original check. if i went after her insurance, that fgt ass adjuster would nitpick everything and make me fight for anything.

No you're being ignorant if you think your insurance will pay you again if the price is different. You got fucked. They're gonna pay what they gave you, end of story.

The fact you took their check with just an external check is beyond stupid and you deserve to get royally fucked.
 
you guys are all wrong. it was physically stated that if there were any additional parts damaged once things were taken apart, they would be added. they will be going after her insurance anyways so who the fuck cares how its done? they are only paying for my shit to get fixed whatever the cost until they bill her insurance and get their money. i dont understand why you guys are being dense as fuck.
 
Geoff, should have argued for a new GM rack, new axle(both look wonky in pic) I would have even gone as far and control arms to replace balljoints and bushings that took that hit at angle not intended, I'd also get a new steering knuckle
 
If they won't replace everything on that side ask for non-destructive testing. There is no way a visual inspection could show if those parts have been wonkeyed.

God dammit shitbird listen to these guys. I've dealt with several wrecked cars and I've NEVER taken my first offer, especially when it was totaled.

Sit back, take it all in, then make them work for you...a drunk hit and run happened! You should not be the one taking 18" of hard cock! !!!
 
Oh...and fuck paying deductible! I did this on my truck and a year later no reimbursement! Oh, and my truck was $6k worth of damage...Your's us way more than that $1200 or whatever it is.
 
Sounds like a bunch of guys who don't know what the fuck they're talking about. If there is anymore damage A supplement will be written. This is not an uncommon practice. Any legit body shop will get it straightened out. Just don't be using a backyard shop. You can take it where ever you want. Only thing I find weird is you were already given a check. Never heard of that especially if there is a lien on the vehicle. You can't really tell the extent of the damage without digging into the truck. Generally an estimate would get written the shop would start their work. Find any additional problems and turn it in to insurance. Thus a supplement is written for additional repairs.
