As others have alluded to, the screen is there to create a pressure drop which helps evenly distribute the flow across the entire cross section of the intake.
 
So a descreened MAF sensor burned up my trans? Guess the 13psi on a stock trans had nothing to do with it.

i removed my screen on my 6.slow and never had any problems. although i did blow a new stock trans with 1500 miles on it and blew a built trans again :shrug:
 
107k and I doubt it was ever cleaned before..I noticed a huge difference in the way it runs now

I cleaned mine at 75Kish because I over oiled my K&N, I cleaned it again at 100K so it doesnt get fucking horrible again. The screen on mine was CM to the truck when I started :lol:

I bought it used just to have something on there lol it needs some body work and paint but I'm just gonna hold off until I can pay to get it shaved since my other one got fucked up in the process lol
