As others have alluded to, the screen is there to create a pressure drop which helps evenly distribute the flow across the entire cross section of the intake.

i removed my screen on my 6.slow and never had any problems. although i did blow a new stock trans with 1500 miles on it and blew a built trans again :shrug:
I DO need to clean my MAFS...def wouldnt remove the screen though. That whole .068hp I would gain isnt worth it.
I know plenty of people who do it and have zero issues but my luck it would make erthang fuck up
I cleaned mine at 75Kish because I over oiled my K&N, I cleaned it again at 100K so it doesnt get fucking horrible again. The screen on mine was CM to the truck when I started :lol:
Im at 137k...doubt its ever been done...its just not something ive ever thought about lol. TB stays foodservice clean though.
keeping on top of it cleaning wise will beat any proformance.

I bought it used just to have something on there lol it needs some body work and paint but I'm just gonna hold off until I can pay to get it shaved since my other one got fucked up in the process lol
