6.0

Thanks, I knew it was a good difference.
Just from all the reading I've done I get confused. Most if the 5.3's from 2000 were roughly around 240hp, again just what I had read. But I know they get stronger every year.

Yeah I've got a 2003, I think it's around 285, but also bone stock with 261,690 miles. So what kind of power am I looking at with a lq9 out of say an escalade, with longtubes and a tune?

L33s are overrated.
Get an lq4
If you want a lq9 i can get the pistons/rings for like 20 bucks a pop...

even a built 6.0L with proper parts, $$$, and attention to detail will be just as reliable and any build.

Do it once, do it right.

If you're not to drop tons into it then I would just drop the 6.0 in, tune and leave alone. You were talking about a cam and heads, then you would need the pushrods and springs. Prob wouldn't be enough with just that, so then comes stall and gears, then exhaust, lol, it just keeps going and going.

It sounds like you want all that, but you don't wanna spend the money or risk the reliability. Yes a built motor will be just as reliable, however you need a trans, a converter, timing chain, oil pump, rods, springs, retainers etc to make any of that worth while. Once its all in, and you start beating on it, thats when stuff will fail. Daily driving and occasional beatings will be fine, but don't think you can put 100k on a built 6.0 pounding it all the time.

For your situation, I would Install 6.0 with nice headers, intake and a tune. Then start collecting parts from there if need be.

Thanks for the long response. I'm pretty sure that's what I'm going to do, then may eventually get a super cheap dd and work on this one motor wise
