I've seen a few people say they have done it. No pics. And I've seen one YouTube video of a guy showing the vin on his truck being a c, so it did originally start off as 2wd.

For the most part yes. Quickly looking at the frame last night if I wanted to put the diff in and keep the truck stock/leveled it looks like I'd have to whole saw a few holes and weld in some pieces of pipe for bolts to go through for the pass side diff brace. And one bracket up top of the diff.
