we used my old 6.0 every weekend in the summer to go to the races with a bed full of tools/spare parts and a limited modified dirt track car and four wheeler on the trailer. did just fine.
 
We use it as a pulling truck on the farm, header trailers, gravity wagons for wheat seeds, fertilizer and anhydous tanks. Once it goes in a dirt field with a load, its weak. We have a 454 3500 cclb but it gets 7 mpg

you need a dmax then. my uncle bought a 97 ccsb 2500 454 for a farm truck about a year ago and he's looking for a dmax already.
