Hello, friends. Long time, no see. With instagram and talking to truck friends on groupme daily, I constantly neglect this forum.
I added another hooptie to the fleet. 99 SLT Suburban C1500. Grey leather, barn door, 229k miles. Picked it up as a non-runner that’s been sitting in a yard for the past 5 years for $250.
Dragged it back to the shop, drained the varnish out of the tank, replaced distributor cap and rotor, dropped the tank, scraped 3 pounds of solid shit out of the bottom of the tank, replaced fuel pump, put 2” drop shackles that I had lying around, and got it running over the weekend. Paint is completely non-existent, front seats are roached, dash is obliterated, and I still need to replace plugs and wires, but it should be a decent parts/beer runner and tow rig for when I need to drag another shitty vehicle home.
I want the total cost of getting it on the road to be less than $500, so my only plans are to
•install my old 2” drop coils in the front
•put my old 17” Impala ss wheels and Nittos on
•drive the piss out of it

Installed a $30 hood from the junkyard and washed it for the first time in 6 years

Put the white handles in the jeep today. Mirrors next if I can find a shop to paint them.

I vote to leave the mirrors black. It’s the perfect white to black ratio right now IMO

I’m having the tail light surrounds and those side vents and hood hinges done at the same time.
She’s swapping her wheels to bronze methods I think. I hate textured black, and if she loses the black wheels it’ll look even worse

Idk man, that’s an awful lot of white. It’s funny cuz I like full colormatch on trucks, but it’s hard to pull off on a Jeep. There’s one around here done full white with white cockstars and looks like absolutely trash. Yours might be ok with the methods tho

They guy at the end of my street has a new raptor. White all color matched with bronze method. Looks tough. Classy
I tried to get her to do bronze wheels initially. She wouldn’t go for it. She sees the raptor now and says, you’re right.
She fought me on the white handles too. She says you’re right.
She’s been saying I’m right a lot.
This is her first “build” I’ve been trying to show her the way. Sometimes she’s impatient, sometimes she just has to make mistakes on her own

Lol fair enough. I do hope it looks good. I just have yet to see an all white Jeep in person that looks good. But we are talking about backwoods GA folk after all

How you doing with the Rona? It kicked my mom and sister and her fiancé’s ass but other sister, her boyfriend and my dad didn’t slow down one bit. Dad actually had it during duck season so he just got 2 weeks paid to hunt.
I legit had two days where I hurt, and was over it...I never thought I really had it til I tested positive...my son didn't miss a beat a t all, he just couldn't taste or smell. My wife on the other hand is catching PURE hell. She is in tons of pain and it is whipping her ass.
