So wanted to make a basic update on the plans as of now...
There are some basics that I need to take care of that don't require anything but work:
- Remove 4x4 sticker, de-badge cab SLE
- Remove rear mudflaps
- Adjust tailpipe
- Remove subwoofer wiring
- Add battery, fuse box shroud, glove box from v1.0
I also have rear fender liners I can put in but my moms dog got ahold of one of the corners while they were in her garage so idk.
The next items that need to be addressed is that annoying slip yoke clunk and a pretty spongy brake pedal and some light dimming when I hit the power windows or the fans come on. For the slip yoke clunk I'm gonna try the leaf spring clamps first and for the spongy pedal I'm going to do a pad slap on the front with some HD semi metallic police/fleet pads I put on my RCLB and some speed bleeders and try to get a good bleed on it. For the light dimming issue I'm gonna put the Interstate battery I just bought for the RCLB before it was wrecked and do somewhat of a BIG3 upgrade. PCMofNC sells a BIG3 kit for 40 something bucks it may not be the biggest wire or all the wires you can do but its cheap and no guesswork. As for the exterior, the dents in the bumpers need to be addressed. The new front bumper cover is already on order, and I'm going t go with black bumper bar so the bumper scheme matches front to rear.
With the front end, I'm going to try Autodip, and dip my factory grille as its faded in the corners and scratched on the drivers side. If I like the color matched look I will get a W/T style later on and have that painted to match. If I dont like it I can order a chrome OEM replacement. For the insert I haven't decided between OEM with black gmc or the mesh insert like I had on the RCLB. I have IPCW clears that will be going on with halogen bulbs for now until VLEDS new bulb is off preorder. As for headlights, I think I'm going to go with basic clears with LED drop ins. The retrofitted Denali's are awesome but that don't make clear lenses versions anymore and the ones of my black truck got damaged in the accident. I may still open them up and harvest the clear lenses out we will see.
For fog lights, I guess ill go oem sytle lulz
For the rear I will also be going with a painted to match rear bumper with the regular plastics to keep the white and black bumper scheme consistent from front to rear. Instead of LED tails, I'm going to go a little more traditional with the candy GMC style since they can be had on eBay for cheap. The tailgate has a large gash down the metal on the lower lip so I'm going to attempt to touch that up myself but if that fails I will have it professionally done. The tailgate will also get a NNBS HD pad and be have the "Sierra" and the "Paramus Chevrolet" removed. It has a bedrug in it now that ive just left in to be exposed to the elements until I can get it line-x'd.
For the coming holiday weekend that's all I have planned in addition to leveling the tows and fixing a mirror glass, and cranking the keys a hair so it stops rubbing. I really enjoy the decranked ride so its gonna have a little rake this time. Its gonna need a full detail and there is plenty of other mods planned but noting super trick or custom but we are going to have to get that LQ9 opened up a little!
