SDM Build Thread

:bird:

Had a leaking diff oil seal and then my AC compressor grenaded on me. So this weekend i swapped out my compressor and pulled the CV axle more time and replaced the oil seal. Refilled the diff oil and put the skids back on. Getting the AC recharged tomorrow. Thank god because im headed for 4 days through the Mojave Desert on Friday.

Spent 4 days in the Mojave Desert with a bunch of friends.

Damn that last set of pics is pretty epic. If we had desert near by I’d want an off-road rig but trails and mud bogs just tear shit up not my thing but overland open country out there looks dope!

went and inspected the suspension and gave everything a once over a few weeks ago and discovered my brake lines were bent and went to replace.

How it should be (fixed now)

While bleeding the system a rear extended brake line burst. Looks like it was rubbing the gas tank when at droop. 6 years of offroad i guess killed it.

Thing is with the Tacoma CV axles that i'm using for this install since they're the same ones just slightly different internals. I have to cut the axle shaft flush with the CV cradle, then remove the cradle from the CV end and press out the shaft with 15-20 tons of force to break the internal snap ring so i can insert my +3.5 axles and put the axle back together to throw in. What a pain in the dick.

I also added Poly Performance lock out alignment tabs since now i can adjust my alignment from my upper arm, permanently.

installed two 50w solar panels on the roof inset in the rack. Using it for battery tender and also to replenish while im off the grid and using my fridge. Panels are Renogy as well as the 20a waterproof solar controller.

I have since painted the brackets black to blend better. I wanted to have it flush mounted which i could have achieved if my roof of the runner wasnt arched.

over the holiday break i finally tackled my torn passenger seat bottom. Wasnt too bad. Had it in/out in under a few hours. It will never match the 16 years of use on the back but its not a bad match and much improved.

Its tightened up a little with some use and relaxing of the material. Once i completed the new bottom i realized i should have just done the back as well but that will be for another time.
