I think it would look alright if everyone who did it actually too the time to make it sit right
the way the parking lights are on the HD's they will never fit right unless you some how retro GMC ones on there. and at the point whats the purpose of keeping the chevy front clip? for the HD hood?
Every single GMC bumper on a HD front looks terrible. The only way to pull it off and tuck it up straight, then extend the Fenders down to the bumper. If someone took the time to do that properly, it would look badass

I still don't think it will look good. the way the 2001-02 HD grille and bumper is made to meet cdoesn't allow for a good match up the 03+ gmc bumper. there would be much better luck making the grille match up with the 99-02 gmc bumper because it is curved instead of angular.
Your right, a older bumper may work better! 03+ gmc grilles on 99-02 gmc bumpers to me look terrible
