Photography Thread

I'm finding a lot of nice deals on used 7D cameras. I found one body only for $300 which I'm probably going to snag. What lens should I buy for this? Some have lenses included and they're the 18-55 lens I believe. What would you recommend for somewhat budget in my "shooting style"
 
That really comes down to how much do you want to spend and how much range do you want? The 18-55 isnt bad, but there are better options. Sticking with Canon and reasonibly priced, there is the 18-135 STM which is a huge focal length and the STM version is silent and has GREAT optics. Its kind of a diamond in the rough. if you want to get something thats not a Canon branded lens, the tamron 17-50 F2.8 is a great lens for crop bodies. I had one and loved it! My friend's wife has it now and she is doing very well with it.

What i would do if I had 800 bucks to spend, I would buy the 7D for 300, spend another 300 on a new 10-18 STM and then use the left over 200 for a used 18-135 STM which should be very doable. I think you'd really enjoy the ultra wide of a 10mm especially for the landscape things you do and the 18-135 will be a excellent all aroudn lens you wouldnt have to worry about taking off when on your adventures. Plus with the 7D's video ability, the STM lenses focus completely silent, since they were built around entry level video. This is what i would do 100% if i was in your shoes or starting over right now.

Bidding on a 7D right now. It finishes tomorrow and will probably go for more than what I want to spend. Comes with strap camera body and kit lens an batteries and cords. $230 right now

nice!! Which kit is with it? They offered a few different ones. think they did a 18-55 and 28-135. I think some even were optioned with a 24-105
 
Gotcha. Thats still not a bad deal but since its an auction, it will probably get up in the 600 range. Go look at like fred miranda forums and photography-on-the.net There is all kinds of good deals on there for the 7D. I saw one not long ago with battery grip and all the original boxes for like 450. Saw one that was beat to hell that had a 3 as the first number.
 
Those turned out good for just getting quick pics. Was like damn shoulda went to that hospital down the road it coulda been a cool background with the architecture of the building. Thanks again bud :thumbsup:

I'll probably re-edit some of those and get rid of the water on the asphalt and some other small things. Just wanted to get them bulk edited and looking good.
 
Sam talked me through it a bit, which I appreciate, but I picked up a T2i yesterday with some accessories. I have a LOT to learn, but hopefully visiting this thread more often now.
 
Thats not a bad combo or bad price. It will take good photos. Didnt you have a rebel xt to start with? that would feel familiar in your hands atleast. the 7D is going to be about 2x that size and weight
