For 1500 bucks it better have less than 60-65kmi imo. Use car-part.com to look if you haven't already
I really wonder how much life is left in my engine? Thing runs strong and doesn't burn a drop of oil, just has a little lifter tick every once in a while. Now the trans.... With 256k I'm curious of its life
word, trans is your weak link, just i would rock it till it has problems, them a FLT built trans.

But my engine does good and has been driven highway 240k miles, was a highway travel truck. Guy was older and you could tell he was easy on it so really not worried about the engine much, but what could be done to it performance wise? Trans, I probably won't touch until it grenades on me. Or I could do shit to trans and transfer to new trans when it goes

Well you COULD spend a whole ton of money haha. Do you have an approximate budget you want to stay within?
Imo don't mess with the trans until you start having problems..being it has so many miles I would be afraid trying to upgrade shit would make it weaker unless you did a full rebuild..engine performance I would do headers and full exhaust, maybe a small cam
Lol not really in a budget, just nothing too intense, lol like no ls3 or anything crazy. And I may do headers/cam on mine, again I'm really not looking for insane performance right now, needs to be a reliable DD. but if I'm spending the time tearing into engine or getting engine torn into I don't want stock. Any good smallish cam recommendations?
Best bang for your buck like said is going to be a 6.0/80e. By the time you start adding shit up cam (which also comes with springs and rods), heads, exhaust, don't forget your tune, labor unless you do it yourself, and with that many miles. You have spent the same if not more than just the motor swap. Just my .02 from experience.
Yeah I see what you mean, just after the 30 min of searching for a 6.0 I found not anything worth shit, ill keep looking though. Biggest worry should be trans IMO. How much should a 80e be running for?
Depends on miles. From cheap to expensive haha. Look on cl, I usually find some on there going for cheap. And for 6L you should just look for any 2500 from 01(or 02) and up after they did away with the iron heads.
Is it near a plug and play deal almost? I mean if I buy a full engine with all harnesses I shouldn't have to cut and change shit?
Not sure if it is plug and play or not, ive never read into it because it doesnt pertain to my setup :crazy: Honestly just do a bit of looking on performancetrucks.net. so many people have done the swap, you should be able to find a detailed list of everything needed.
