Now that I'm home from school for the summer I decided to tackle a few of the not so fun & some of the fun projects that I've been waiting to do. So far it's been an adventure, including several trips to the stealership and several days without my ride. However I have a good parts guy who hooks me up with wholesale prices and then discounts. :mirinme:
-Replace motor mounts (passenger side broken)
-Install my OEM Trans Cooler
-Replace Oil pan Gasket
-Replace knock sensors, harness & all of the accompanying intake & throttle body gaskets blah blah blah...
-new Delco Iridium plugs
-Figure out why I have no E-Brake function
-Hopefully candy Tails & paint Lower valence black
I started with the knock sensors. Pulled the intake manifold and found this
Shopvac'd the hell out of it and then cleaned and taped the heads
Here's the culprit of that awful CEL. :clarksonbird: From R to L New, Old sensor (front) & rear sensor.
Back in with new harness and some RTV.
Did a quick hand polish to the inside of the throttle body while waiting on parts from GM after cleaning the damn oil residue out. It was black.
Feeling like a sir for doing this in only about two hours, torquing my intake manifold back down, the first bolt snaps. :tableflip: I had the of panic thinking it was broken off inside the head, however it wasn't & I just had to wait three days for new bolts.
Waiting on the new bolts I hit up the local flea market and scored this for 10 bucks.
New vs old broken motor mount.
Dropped the Oil pan to replace the gasket which, as I discovered, was riveted in by the factory.
Before cleaning
After cleaning
While I had the Crossmember dropped & the motor mounts out I ran the new hardlines for the cooler and bolted it down. DNFW cooked transmission that I just has rebuilt.
As of right now everything is reassembled, new plugs are in and the truck is running, well, tomorrow I'll put the crossmember back (I beadbalsted and painted it) and the front end back on.
