your math still doesnt make sense. I drive 360 miles a week, avg 13.9 MPG and i only pay $350 a month in fuel costs with CA prices.

$100 aint shit of a savings, my guess is you're hemorrhaging money elsewhere and looking for a quick fix, this aint it pimp. I bet you're spending elsewhere that could easily stop.

If you cant achieve your goals as is, you need to make a change. A change in your lifestyle or a change in your unrealistic wants. Good luck in your endeavor but you're not listening to what people have to say.
 
Kinda true. If I was analyzing my spending and budget. I wouldn't even really consider fuel cost for my truck. It's like a fixed expenditure for me. I'm gonna pay what I need to pay to get fuel. Gas prices go up life sucks they go down a little more spending money. Maybe look into car pooling or minimizing trips taken for leisure.

I am listening to what y'all are saying and it's not making sense to me at all. How is making a change that literally will cost me nothing, and save me a couple hundred a month, a bad thing? I understand gas is a nessesity and I have already made some changes to save money elsewhere as well. I'm just trying to save everywhere I can, including fuel costs.

My only expenses are the truck payment, insurance, cell phone, half of groceries for the 4 of us, and fuel. Every once in a while we'll eat out or I'll buy a magazine but that's not a regular thing. And weekend running around equates to going to her dad/stepmom's house and going to the grocery store and maybe the park for the girls.

So please tell me again, why is dropping the truck a bad thing? How is going from 12mpg to 18mpg not worth it when it will cost me nothing?

Regardless, it's my truck, I'm dropping it cuz it'll save money. Saving money is saving money. It'd be different if I was gonna have to buy all new shit and not be able to sell what I already have. But I literally will shell out nothing.

Dean, once I get some tires and decide how low I'm going I'll let you know about the shackles :shake:

because we keep telling you all this shit your doing, isnt going to net you 18mpg unless you literally fill up, and drive 65mph non stop till the tank is empty.

you are in a 4wd truck you wont see the mileage that tony see's. you have about 250lbs more weight from the transfer case, front diff cv's and drive shaft.

here lets ask deanH.

dean, you went from lowered to lifted on the same exact wheels and tires, only thing that changed was the overall height of your vehicle, did the mileage change at all? I'm betting at most 1mpg. and you can sway a tank to show 1mpg difference by changing the way you drive.


we arent trying to be dicks, you just have this magic impression that lowering your truck is gonna net mpg that you wont ever see.
 
Then how the hell did I see 18-21 when I first bought it? Did you not read that part? The truck has done it before, sitting high as hell so it'll certainly do it again being lower.

If I'm getting rid of the heavy beefy tires, I'm dropping it cuz A) a tall truck needs meaty mud tires to look better and B) dropping it to just leveled is boring and dropping it low costs no extra.

Not sure you are going to be able to see 18 as a consistent average. I'd be willing to be its closer to 15
 
:shrug: Ok? Do not see how....just changing the tires will net a couple mpg cuz heavy af. How do you not realize that? When I bought them and the 20s I knew I'd see a huge drop in mileage and did. That was ok when I was driving 22 miles round trip, not so much now doing 72

for what its worth, my dad with an 07 4x4 ccsb 6" lift on 35s gets 15mpg consistently. He drives like a grandma, i can also bet your speedo was never fixed for bigger tires so you're math cannot be taken seriously.

were not arguing to argue, were arguing to help you see you're being unrealistic.

Has your speedo ever been changed to be correct since bigger tires? If not, then your MPG is WRONG.

But. We're not talking just height. We're talking about getting rid of tires that weigh 78 freaking pounds a piece. If I dropped it 2/4 on my current trails, no I wouldn't see a damn difference
