Discussion: 2003-2007 GMT800 (NBS) LED cluster conversion

Use a brand new utility blade and VERY LIGHTLY scrap the blue off. You can go through the black of the overlay just so you know. I have a few spots where I was sloppy and went through it. Just go slow, it takes about 30-45 min to do it.

Yeah just take your time and don't apply a lot of pressure. It sucks because it takes forever but you really don't want to scrape through the black.

I have a quick question I was wondering why no one uses rgb leds so you could all ways be changing up the color

You'd have to wire in a remote reception deal, all in one strip almost. Meh..

I understand that but is there anyway to make it so the auto lights would turn it on instead of the having to manually turn on the lights with the remote

You could, but you would have to either leave it on one color, or you would have to some how run an inline remote so that you could change the color when you want.

How are you guys scraping the tint from the overlay?

Get nail polish remover without acetone... it takes longer but its not so harsh like acetone. Then just use q-tips and cotton balls to take the blue off the back...Thats how I did mine and its about perfect (I tried it first on a spare gasser overlay before I started messing with mine) and its easier to be selective with what you're taking off. Acetone and razors mess the overlay up way too easily. It took me about 15-20 minutes to get the tint off mine.

Is there anywhere you can get a online remote like you said cause I can't seem to find one or a way to get them auto on
