Thanks guys. It's turned out to be a bit of a project. I'm going to see if I can move the brackets and shocks out a little bit further. Ordered a few more items the other day. Got some Bilstein billet shock clamps instead of the stupid hose clamps. Also got some 4.25 inch bore center caps to try and make work on the rims and a Bushwacker tailgate cap coming.
Finally got back to work on this thing today. Haven't touched it because earlier this week we got dumped on big time with snow. Started in on Monday and cleared out mid-Wednesday. At the home place we got 18 inches or better. At my place, there was a good 20 inches or better.
Taken late Tuesday night. Snow was still falling.
But, onto truck stuff. Finished up the rear shock project. Picked up some 9/16" bolts, got the upper brackets drilled bigger, all four brackets welded on, and then painted the frame, axle, leafs, etc. with some semi-gloss. I got billet shock clamps coming as well.
Thanks man. I'd really like to get everything all done on it, get it cleaned up, and take it to the Wheel Jam truck show in Huron this summer. You'll have to make it up to that this year.
Got a little more work done. Cut down the center caps and they are going to work great. I cut off 3/4 of an inch on them, including the lip. The fit nice and tightly. I figured I would have to use some Loctite locking compound, I might not need any, but I think I may get some just for good measures.
But, I wanted a stainless cap since I knew I'd be cutting the lip off, so didn't want something rusting. I guess I could still get a chromed steel cap like the one I just linked and use some etching primer on the cap after cutting it and then go ahead and use some locking compound once on the wheel.
Doctor X I believe it was. I don't know, the ones he made for the black rims didn't look too bad. But then again, on the black 962s, I personally don't think the Moto Metal caps look too bad. I think what I got going on looks pretty damn good. I wish I could find a domed or a pointed cap in stainless or polished aluminum.
