BARBER's 2003 Chevy LB7 Duramax

Thanks guys. Really need to get some more stuff done to it. I got a new starter that needs to go on and then a new 6" tip to replace my home made one.

Well since it's been close to a year now, I better update my build thread :fail:

This summer I started buying up a lot of cool parts. First thing is I found a local guy who wanted to get rid of his Fab Fours replacement bumper. Traded my stock one for his for $600. Couldn't complain too loudly on that deal.

Found this deal on DuramaxDiesels.com forum. Guy in Kentucky had an ATS stage 6 extreme 5 speed transmission for sale. 5 star convertor, ATS co-pilot, extra deep trans pan, large trans cooler, So-Cal Diesel billet flex plate, 3 cases of ATF all for $4,800. Met the guy part way in Omaha, Nebraska back in September.

Next go fast part(s) I picked up was a compound turbo kit. Found a guy from Pennsylvania who was selling a used s475 over stock turbo kit. Turbo is a s475/96/1.10. Had the 1.10 turbo housing added when the turbo was rebuilt 1,500 miles ago. The kit itself was built right on the previous owners LB7 by a shop called Maxx Performance in Pennsylvania. All the piping is 304 stainless and tig welded. Cold pipes PC'd flat black. Hot pipes heat wrapped. 5' downpipe (most kits are a 4" downpipe), 3.5" charge pipe, 3" hot pipe, 3" Y bridge, 3" intercooler pipe, fabricated coolant overflow tank.

I also picked up some traction bar axle brackets and a transmission/transfer case brace from the same shop. All that along with all the piping showed up yesterday. Just waiting on the turbo to arrive. The last remaining parts I'll need to get is a 5" exhaust kit...because of the 5" downpipe. Then I might pick up a torque convertor lock up switch and some new PPE intercooler boots to replace the 10 year old stock boots.

Pics of the kit on the P.O. truck

Last week I also got the rockers and a set of EGR pocket flares Rhino Lining in colormatched red. Had the lining done up to the body line. Going to be money well spent for me.
Only pics I got so far, no close ups of the liner yet.

Also, can't believe I forgot to add this as well, but this spring back in May one local diesel shop held a diesel day at a local drag strip and they had a mobile dyno from Nebraska come up to it. Threw 'Ol Red on it and I was pretty baffled at the numbers it produced. Ran on my highest tune it did 501hp and 1142tq. The next weekend, another shop held their dyno day and that day I got 525hp and 96-some on torque. Granted all those numbers are on a stock transmission and turbo. I was pretty tickled about what it produced. There's no way my stock transmission would have held up to those numbers on the street.

what tires are on it. they look pretty cool.

those go fast mods are gonna be fun.

Hercules Trail Diggers. I wouldn't recommend them. They're loud and suck in the winter. They're shot and my buddy wants to buy them back from me. I plan on getting some 18s and 33s next.

Yea it was this time last year that I had the injector and tuning work done. Debated between 20 or 30% injectors but wanted to upgrade my turbo down the road so I went with the 30s.

My LB7 won't hold more than 600hp. Or so I've read. On the LB7s you'll bend a rod before a person lifts the heads as well.

Hopefully I'll start tearing into this thing towards the end of this month. I'll pick up my remaining parts on some online black Friday sales coming up.
