BARBER's 2003 Chevy LB7 Duramax

Nothing new. Just been driving it. Still haven't had the opportunity to pull anything with it yet. Been super busy building roses for Valentine's Day and then got calving season coming up soon. I still need to attend to denting in the cab where the downpipe hits. I'll have to take the downpipe off to do that and I'm not looking forward to it. When I do it I should replace the overflow tank with a Wehrli tank that is capable of having a low coolant sensor in place. I can't take the tank off with the downpipe on as it is. I also plan on getting new polyurethane body mounts and then cut out some spacers to lift the body up some more. Thinking 1/4" will be enough.

I'm gonna disagree, it looks better than black, all red will be a bit much.

@BARBER How are those bambi bashers attached to the frame, because I've always wondered how strong it would be say if you rearend another car?

Yea the ranch hand style of bumpers don't look good at all colormatched. I've seen a few done that are meh looking.

This bumper has brackets that slide into the frame horns just like how the tow hooks do.

I really like the TDK bumpers, such as the standard models, these look good colormatched. They're a bit pricey though.

Just bought one of these. I've followed a guy on DuramaxDiesels.com forum from Montana who built his own s475 over stock kit on his LB7 and he was having issues of not seeing full boost and his EGTs being plenty. I'm having similar problems. I only see 35 lbs total boost, and on my race tune I can see 40-41 lbs. I think I seen it spike to 45 once. The previous owner was able to spin 50 lbs out of his. Anyways, the guy from Montana placed an adjustable regulator in between his wastegate and IHI turbo. He picked up a cheap one from a local farm store, I could have done the same but was recommended to these. These look a lot better than the cheap plastic ones that can vary up and down. Can't wait to get it and start toying with it and see if my EGTs can drop and see more BOOOSSSSHHTT.

Finding out the driveability is a lot nicer with the co-pilot turned off. Especially just daily driving. I finally had the chance to pull with it last night. Hauled my '08 up to town for a car show using Dad's bumper hitch car trailer. If I remember right its 22' with a 2' dovetail. Its a heavy trailer. Pulled just great, I really need to get my airbags on the back though, not only to help with the squat but stability as well.

Spending more money on this turd. CP3 pump is about out. Pulled the trigger on a Fleece CP3K pump yesterday. It's a modified LBZ pump. Thursday it goes in to get the pump put on it and then back to Accelerated to get the pump dialed in and then some tweaks to the tuning.

Used my Dad's LML and trailer to haul it to a shop by the name of Infinity Diesel which is between Rapid City and Sturgis to get the pump put on. These guys could get it in the soonest. Started work on it yesterday. Craig, who is the owner of this shop, was the guy who tuned this thing right after I had the injectors done close to a year and a half ago. Biggest thing I hated about his tuning was it was so dirty. I could roll smoke on my economy tune. Granted I had the bigger injectors and a stock turbo. Spoke to him on the phone this morning and told him about how I was not happy with the tuning done by Accelerated and he should still have my license and VIN so he's going to look at it this next week and get it tuned. Craig is a Duramax guy and he knows his Duramaxes, whereas the other shop, that guy is more of a Cummins guy.

I also got a gauge and install kit to put a drive pressure gauge in coming as well. That should show up the first part of this next week.

It's done. Spoke to the guy who tuned it and he told me some reassuring news and comments. Last guy had the timing advanced a little too much and a little too much fuel for his liking. He tuned it mildly to keep the stock bottom end and the high mileage head gaskets and head bolts happy. Had quite a bit of dyno time and informed it's doing consistently around the 600hp mark. He said he seen 616hp once. He also told me with the setup I got...injectors, bigger pump, and the compounds, its very capable of a lot more and could be capable of 700hp or less. BUT...as fore-mentioned, the stock bottom end would not like it. Said it runs and drives great. I go to pick it up tomorrow.

Last picture I took of it.

Guy and his son drove out from Unionport, Ohio and arrived Tuesday morning to get it. Drove 1,310 miles out to my place. Sad to see this thing go, I was just tired of dumping money into it left and right. I should have never done the twins and just done a single s366 or a Stealth 64, I would have maybe been happier with it.
