I think Cooper makes a good range of tires in very good quality for the price. Currently running Discoverer AT3's on mineLove the look of claws, but they seem to run fairly expensive and aren't quite as versatile as i'd like.

Got all 4 shined up last night.
Then spent some time with the tire spoons scooping these bad boys on the wheels. I decided to get the Cooper Discoverer STT Pro in 315/75R16. Read a decent amount and they seem to have good reviews.
New tires VS old tires. The Mickey Thompson MTZs served me well. I managed to get about 55k miles out of them. I probably would have ran them a second time but I've started growing fond of coopers after running the Discoverer ST Maxx on the dually.
And, yes, they are on the truck. It was 10PM when I finished, so you'll have to wait for daylight picts :lol:
I have the STT Pro on the 88, ST Maxx on the dually and AT3s on my work toyota. lol I'm a cooper guy now i guess.
Been a hot minute, had quite a few things happen since the last update!
Pulled the axles. This is the only easy way to move a 14FF.
Got the frame setup and acid etched.
Then spent many hours coating it.
I then spent a bunch of time doing some other things - had my great uncle pass away, the Black Fox started making a ticking sound that ended up with a failing cam/lifter which was ripped apart and replaced, and bought a 46k mile 06 GMC K3500 SLT Duramax/Allison truck.... Among thanksgiving and two trips back to back. Progress has slowed a little but I should be back at it soon. More details on the other endeavors are in my Black Fox thread.

Since the weather has been crap, I've been travelling to visit out of area friends, as well as prepping the 98 for sale (which sold on 1/31). In that time I was able to blast the axles, and then started tearing them down. Soon they will get coated and re-assembled.
question for you. What the hell do they call the panel that goes in the diesel bumper on the drivers side hole, that helps force air into the rad? I looked and they must have some stupid terminology for it.
Looks like some good progress. Since you blasted the frame I have a question, we have been looking at getting a blaster for painting farm equipment. What brand of blaster is that and how much air volume was required to run it? How fast or slow could you blast with it?
I think they call it a baffle. I actually have a complete one sitting in my shed.
Mine was from Summit racing, it's good for a smaller project. I have a 20 gallon air compressor and it barely kept up with the demand, had many times of stopping and letting it recharge.
Finished stripping the cab out, then loaded everything up to move to start bodywork.
Removed the glass, then started fixing some imperfections
Ended up picking up a couple more body panels, want to make sure I'm using the best panels possible.
The put doors and fenders on for mock up and repair.

I wish I would have had the time and place to do this to my 88, instead its been sent through like 3-4 high schoolers since I sold it :roflfp:

I don't have much space, i'm constantly moving things around to do this. And time.... well i have no social life anymore.
Well, it's been just over a month, I think it's a good time to owe you guys an update.....
Started out by doing the 97+ passenger firewall bracket and 95+ pillar grab handle and column support, as well as cleaning up some firewall holes.
Also added the slots for the overhead console, and proper reinforced nuts for bucket seats.
Bodywork progressed. Big time. First up was the cab corner replacement, along with a huge mess of sanding and well, more sanding.
Installed new pins & bushings to make sure the bodylines are straight. The final adjustment will happen at assembly
Additionally, we pie-wedged the edge of the front fenders to create some more clearance where my tires would hit... Before and After
