2014 Silverado/Sierras

Says the guy with a cracked frame.

:troll:

J/K bae

:okay:

It's not cracked anymore, everything is all welded up right buuutttt, the frame is still tweaked behind the axle. Gonna take it to a bodyshop and see what they will charge to throw it on the frame straightener and get it straight again.

chevy frame is made from 60% steel and gmc is made from 70%

Of course you would call me out on that.

So JSP...

Still have that 105k Calloway Sierra?

:wank:

yes we do, someone actually called about it yesterday. Use to have a raptor and wants something like that agin.

not calling YOU out specifically, just the bullshit information you are giving out.

there is zero justifiable reason to make a frame from "10% more steel" and nothing points to any kind of increase in strength, or materials, between comparable models:

1500, reg cab, std box, 2wd, 5.3l, base model:
curb weight:
Chevy: 4634 lbs
GMC: 4634 lbs

Max Payload:
Chevy:1940 lbs
GMC: 1940 lbs

Max Conventional Trailering, 3.42 Rear Axle
Chevy: 9000 lbs
GMC: 9000 lbs

None of these point to any kind of 10% increase in structural integrity or a 10% increase in structural performance.

Typical saleshole bullsheet IMO.

Do you really think they will release that to the public? Think about it. In one of our meetings we had, me and a rep started talking. I asked him why gmc is more expensive and why does gmc have certain things that the chevy doesnt. Gmc is their "luxury" brand of trucks. Why would they make the same truck but charge 2-3k more for it? You have to justify the reasoning. Our SLE comes standard with a backup camera and 8" screen. LT chevys dont. They come with the 4.2" screen and no back up camera. Thats almost 2k right there. All gmc sierras, even the work trucks have projector headlamps, only ltz and high country chevy 1500's do. (yes ik all 2500 and 3500 pickups have projectors.)

So do you really think that GM would have two different frames manufactured for the same wheelbase trucks?

I doubt they are going to create another hassle of production, and materials just to produce the same frame with minor tweaks.
Same frame is same. They are making the same truck and charging 2-3k more on the notion that it is a higher end brand, and more standard features.
You telling me escalade frames are made from space age material? Why would they use the same frame and charge 20k more

Do you really think they will release that to the public? Think about it.

yes. they WOULD. proof that truck labelled as the "professional grade" is ACTUALLY built 10% stronger, that can tow 10% more, and haul 10% more would WITHOUT A DOUBT be made public. that would be a fantastic selling point.

Why would they make the same truck but charge 2-3k more for it? You have to justify the reasoning.

i don't have to justify, because i didn't spend 3k more for a truck that was structurally identical, in every way, to the silverado i bought instead.

Well, THAT sounds like your cost mark up right there, huh? not some super secret ultra special frame material that no one has ever heard about before, randomly, some kid on the internet said it existed
