There's a little part of me that's super excited about you keeping the patina look lol. Too bad we don't have any clean square bodies up here in that kind of shape. Damn road salt.

sweet little update - Seen alot of guys paint there barrells black
Thanks, I've thought about giving them a rattle can job, but I'm worried it won't adhere to aluminum very well even with good prep, and it'll end up chipping easily and looking even worse.

I did the whole nice paint thing on my last square, and it was badass, but miserable at the same time. Huge headache, someone hit and ran it in a parking lot while I was eating not even a month after it was painted. Some dickhead at high school drew a massive penis in the dust on the hood and I had an engraved penis on my hood. Had to park way out in the parking lot anywhere and still worried about someone fucking with it. Constantly washing, polishing, waxing, etc. dickheads constantly leaning against it in rock revival jeans at car meets. Fuck all of that, way simpler to just enjoy driving it this way. The most annoying part about it is that everyone asks me if I'm going to paint it :emo:

Thinking of going 1" lower in the rear when I swap the new axle in. Opinions? It sits 27.5" at every fender so that's like 1.5"ish of rake. I do think it needs a little rake to pull off the staggered wheels/tires though.

3" lower all the way around

Got my axle back, all new bearings and seals from USA gear, 4.10 Richmond gears, and eaton posi. Torched the axle pads and shock mounts off and ground them down. Then used a knotted wire wheel on a grinder to clean it.

Scrubbed with lacquer thinner until it was clean, and shot Rustoleum professional primer on it.

Then shot 3 good coats of Rustoleum satin black on it. Came out good enough for a street truck, and I left where I needed to weld the axle pads on raw, and will paint them once it's in and pinion angle is set and pads welded on.

Hell yes. Lemme know how you like those gears. Found out I have 4.56's so definitely wanna swap to a 3.73 or 3.55.

I had both 3.73 and 4.10 gear sets for a 12 bolt and had to choose. When I chose 4.10s I was under the impression that my truck has 3.73 gears in it now. Come to find out the truck has like a 3.08 gear set in it. I'll probably regret the 4.10s and do a 3.73 down the road sometime, but oh well. I had 4.10s in my old c10 and they weren't too bad, but I do a lot more highway driving now then I did when I had that truck. We'll see.

Also I got around 24 mpg doing 85 mph back from Shreveport with 3.08s. I'll miss them for the highway big time...for a cruiser id do a 3.42 or 3.55 gearset in all honesty. Joe touring, the green c10 no limits engineering built had 3.42s, a 5.3 and 4l60e and same mods as me and averaged 22 mph interstate, and it's obviously still peppy down low.

My buddy is trying to get me to run 3.42's. He has a 4.8 with 3.42's in his 48 gmc and gets awesome mileage. I'm not looking to drag mine, but want to be able to get up and go when I hit it. I also wanna run a 2800-3200 stall.

My truck runs good from any roll, but it's a dog from a dig.

Just pulled the rear end, it had 2.73 gears in it. Wtf. 4.10s should make a world of difference.

22mph on the interstate? damn that things fast

So I've been contemplating posting this, as I kinda wanted to keep it on the low. But decided I would atleast share with you guys.

Made the decision to turbo the truck. It'll be a long, slow build, with everything done the "wrong" way. Chinese parts, stock manifolds, mild steel tubing, craigslist specials, etc.

The only thing holding me back from starting is that my dads shop still isn't done, as it was supposed to be finished in May. Company is a bunch of lying fucktards.

Turbo is an on 3 76mm with the .96 ar. Kind of big for my setup right now, but I plan on pushing it hard later.

Ordered everything I need to fab the hotside. Will be stock upside down manifolds I got from Ryan, with stock flanges, atleast that's the plan right now. Hotside will be 2.5" mild steel. I would rather do 2", but I have a huge 2.5" builder kit laying around, so fuck it. For everyone that will say I should use stainless, I was under the impression that a 2.5" pipe flows the same regardless of if it's made out of gold, angel pubes, or mild steel. No shit it will rust fast, but by the time it rust through I'll probably want to build another hotside anyway. Plus I'm on a budget, not trying to build a sema truck here.

Wastegate is an eBay EMUSA 38mm v band wastegate. Kind of wish I would've gone with a 44mm gate, but this one will work. Happy with it so far. Came with springs for 6#, 8#, or both springs for 14#. $60 shipped

Ordered an eBay t4 flange, eBay 3" v band clamp, an 1.5" j bend for the wastegate dump, a 3" U-J bend for the downpipe, all of the oiling components I need from on 3.

So far my total is a few pennies short of $649. Still need to buy all of the cold side, and all of the fueling and tuning components. I'll also be swapping in a 4l80e, and eventually another 4.8/5.3 with some internal upgrades.
