shopping for air compressor

^ bro do u have a guesstimation on surface area ill be able to paint with that compressor?. I really dont feel like spending more than 300$ for a decent setup..
 
dude, i painted a 60inch x 26inch x 17inch box with a 1.5 hp, 5 gallon compressor. i had to stop a few times to let psi go back up, but it was fine. you could paint a hood easily with the compressor you are looking at
 
Voltage wise yes, but you may need a different breaker depending on their requirements or different style outlet.

I've got that same compressor in my personal shop. Mine is about 14 years old now and due for a rebuild. Plan on picking up another one for home this spring. Pretty good price too! IICR it was around $1,400 new then. It's a stout compressor, and worth the extra money. I've ran it in shop temps over 120* for hours without a problem, kept up with all my tools as well.

Currently use a Campbell Hausfeld 30 gallon 5hp 5.7cfm at home it's ok, and I've prepped out a couple trucks for paint with it. Couldn't quite keep up with my mudhog though. It did keep up well with my Satas spraying a couple bumper jobs and hoods. It has plenty of time to recover between coats. But it's nowhere near big enough for what I'm going to need within the next few months. Never ran an impact on it though.

As for running 230V at home, my plan is to use the over circuit for mine if I can't get a new circuit ran specifically for my comp and welder. The dryer does run off the same voltage, but the breaker for the oven is rated at 40 amps whereas my dryer breaker is only rated at 30.

thats good to know. we bought a huge twin screw ir compressor for our almond processing plant and was ver happy with the quality and especially with the service our local reps gave us. i was in the process of trying to switch out a breaker here for my dryer, needed a 50 amp, but couldnt do it, woulda needed a whole new subpanel, so found a gas dryer on cl for cheap haha. i plan to have two dedicated lines ran for my shop, one for compressor and one for welder. we switched over to water company from our wells a few years back but our pump wiring is still hot so all our contractor said we have to do is reroute it which will make life alot easier
 
So I pulled the trigger on the lowes unit. Now my qustion is do u use a 15 breaker and 15 amp wall outlet? Since the motor draws 15 amps. Or should I just run 20amps on both?
