Morimoto Retrofit Adapter Plates

Yikes. Just got my plates in, and not only do none of the holes line up, but the placement of the high beam trigger input is really in the way. Gonna have to do some cutting and drilling or just start from scratch.

:bruh: you have the plates for the 6.0s and trying to use them on the 7.0s

Indeed. I bought the plates before the 7.0s even came out. After confirmation by TRS, who said the mounting holes were the same as the 6.0. Figured I'd give it a shot, even though some customization might be needed. If the holes lined up, I could cut some notches out of the bottom easy.

Are there 7.0 plates out there yet?

And just for reference, here they are on the 6.0s.

is that a 7.0?

Yes

If you look at the 6.0 how-to, its mentioned and shown how the bolts will be off a lil because the size of the 6.0 and how 1 bolt will be off more than the others. With the diff size of the 7.0, those holes are still off a bit because the plate was meant to accommodate the bigger body'd 6.0. The placement of the plug is an easy fix, but the holes are setup on the plate to work with the 6.0.

Yeah, I remember seeing the 1 hole being off. I guess it's just gonna take some work to line up just right, and some cutting.

It most definitely will, trying to use them on 7.0s. Even on the 6.0, the mounting holes on the projector itself had to be opened up, that would line up the holes with the plates...then the plug area would have to be opened up some. If you would, post up some measurements of the 7.0 bucket and we might be able to make some 7.0 specific plates in the near future.

Will do

I ended up using the plates as templates for a new plate. Here's my first (very) rough cutout, 1/8" HDPE. Holes are marked, just need to drill. I'm halfway tempted to just use the HDPE and not try to cut it out of metal, it's supposedly rated up to 175-200F continuous.

Edit: Just realized I was kinda derailing your thread. Anyone interested in the 7.0 build, look at the official 7.0 thread on HIDplanet...

I am new to the forum. I just used a set of these plates to retro a set of Morimoto Mini H1 6.0's into my 06 Yukon Denali. The plates worked for me. The holes looked a little off at first, but once I got the bolts started, it straightened out all the way until the plate bottomed out on the projector. I just screwed down each bolt little by little. One of the bolts was little slanted by the time the plate bottomed out on the projector, but honestly no big deal. I used #8-32x1 machine screws and they fit the holes perfect. I did have to drill out the holes in the plate that mount the housing onto the headlight assembly. The factory bolts appeared a little too big so I drilled out the holes on the edges of the plate a tad bit. Fit like a charm.

exactly...the holes HAVE to be a lil off on the 6.0 plate because of the large projector body. The pic above showed the holes with the plate right on top of the projector, which the plate wasnt designed for. That single slanted bolt was also discussed in the how-to for the 6.0's. having the plate a few inches from the projector itself, allows for misalignment on the holes of the 6.0.....that misalignment wont be needed with the 7.0 so it wont work as good with those.

2005_Silverado, I have a set of 7.0 projector if you need some measurements. I have a set of the old adaptor plates as well for the 6.0

Pm me if you are interested in making plates for the 7.0 projector. I'll send you my projectors if we can work something out.

Here are some pics and template for the plates I made. Print out the template to scale according to the measurement, and you should be able to get any measurement you need. Just measure to the inside of the line, because I traced around the outside of my adapter. Also, the cutout at the top is a bit wide, but should still seal up just fine with some silicone. Or just cut it a bit narrower.

Did you open the pics? It's for the 7.0. :read:

I did open the pics. It doesn't say anywhere that it's for the 7.0. And I don't know them well enough to tell by looking at the projector.
