So since the truck is pretty solid maint wise, I decided to start the jeep engine swap. This is going to be work in progress for a long time I hope to have it done summer of 2013. Mostly doing the installation alone except for some welding and having the harness made. As you can see from the photos there is some rust but the metal is solid and its going to be painted silver eventually.

Alright so I got some more stuff done over the weekend. I will be taking the dash outon wednesday and then its of to the sandblasting shop. Couple of small rust spots that should be easily repaired. i thought it was going to be a lot worse underneath the stock flares.

Alright went to home depot grabbed some metal and started to practice welding. This thing makes it pretty easy. I have never welded before just watched a couple videos online.

Finally! The jeep is at the sand blaster so I built a nice little workbench in the garage. I usually suck at working with wood but I took my time and I think it came out pretty good.

So after getting the welder it depleated my funds a little bit. Waiting to buy some parts and source some axles. Starting contemplating on wether to put a corner strectch kit on as well. So why all thats going on I have been practicing welding and its not easy to get a nice looking weld but after only having it for 2 weeks I made some progress. Did some vertical push welds and vertical pulls. Makes a big diff in the direction your going.

Damn I type up a whole damn paragraph for you on the welding and it didn't post and I'm not doing it again. On youre up weld on the vertical weld try and slow it down just a little. The one welding down don't look bad . Do some stitch welds also

Damn, looks fun. That things gonna fly...

What gearing and trans are you going with on the new drive train, I might've missed the info.

Going to run 4:10's or 4:56's with a 4l60e behind a 5.3 HO and an np231 transfer case. Wouls love an atlas but not in the budget.
