Low truck toolbox, need some ideas....

Almost ready to spray it... scrubbed like crazy to get all the grease and junk gone, and got it somewhat masked off... I will finish it tomorrow and spray it while at work so it has time to dry inbetween coats cause I'm notorious for painting to quick.

Also flipped the little shocks because before it didn't stay open and had to force it down. Now you push the lock and it opens on its own and is easy to shut.

Should be wrapping it up pretty soon and ready to bolt it down.

Those pins can be found at most accesory shops that sell the toolboxes, if you can't find one just use a 7/16 bolt and put a nut and lock washer on it to hold it to the bracket.

I gonna try to get a matching pin otherwise it will bug me forever. Boss already said the bolt idea.... also figured out that the key used to lock/unlock it is his truck key so either gonna have one made which he said was fine or order a new lock and learn it to my silverado key.
Anyway finished it the other day and it turned out awesome IMO alittle bit of the bed liner leaked thru the painters tape but not enough to notice hardly, I also got it bolted down and I might weld nut still I don't know yet. I used some rubber washers between box and bed floor so it isn't sitting completely on the floor that way water and trash, ect can wash away under it. I measured like 20 times to get it perfectly centered its 3.5" from end of bed and alittle over 4" from each side of bed. It also has double the weather striping than it did factory and I went with the slick sealable kind vs. the foam type, I did a wide thin piece first then a thicker not as wide piece. And now it is completely sealed besides the two empty bolt holes that will be fixed asap.

Not bad for only having $36 dollars in a tool box huh? Got bolts and stuff from dads work, only had to pay for new weather striping and two cans of spray in armor bed liner..

I just used self tappers to bolt it down lol but I like your idea of welding the bolts. My tool box is packed! When you realize that you can have so much in there it fills fast. Never thought of doing something to the bottom
