so i’ve been chasing this weird electrical issue on my 2018 acadia for weeks. rear liftgate wouldn’t open and none of the replacement switches worked right. dealer couldn’t even tell which harness i needed cause the build sheet info didn’t match the vin they had on file. ended up digging around and found out the car had an optional “hands-free liftgate package” that used a different connector type. i found that out through gmcwindowsticker.com it listed all the original options from factory. after that, i ordered the right harness and boom, everything works again. sharing this in case anyone else is stuck with random wiring issues… sometimes the trim or option package is the real reason your parts don’t fit.

Nice detective work, but the fact that vin doesn't give you this information is frustrating. Was the other switch type listed as an alternative to what the dealer offered based on the vin?
