I have a shaved gate and bedcover, cover has its own lock. Once the cover is closed it covers the top 3" or so of the tailgate. Tailgate wont open unless you open cover first.

I would rock a roll n lock or maybe a back flip but dnw any other kind. I had a solid gaylords fiberglass cover for a while but even though it was low profile I hated the way it fit on the truck.
