Dakota's build thread

Time to buy crew cab. I know someone with one :cheeky:

So much want. Hopefully around the beginning of next year I can find me a nice nbs ccsb. That or a nnbs tahoe.

If I get a ccsb itll probably go 5/8ish and the ecsb go 3/6 or leveled and possibly sell.

Alright fellas, need a little input. Truck is still overheating, ive replaced the fan clutch (which was bad), thermostat, water pump and flushed the radiator bottom to top and top to bottom about 8 times. After all of that it still gets hot at idle. today I drained the radiator and ran a bottle of prestone radiator flush through it, filled it back up with dexcool and water and let it idle. Didnt even make it 10 minutes before it was about to peg out.

Im at a loss here. I have no clue and im getting frustrated with it to the point ive seriously been thinking about selling it.

I have a good buddy thats a mechanic, he looked at it for me and said it definitely wasnt a head gasket and it acted like the radiator has blockage but he has been too busy to come back and look at it since I flushed it.

Anybody have any idea if there is a way to bypass the temperature sensor to see if its bad?

I think I've mentioned this before but you did make sure to have the heat on full blast and the rad cap off to properly "burp" the system right? Honestly I would guess the temp sensor is going bad or the Tstat is stuck closed. Take it back out and put it in a pot, heat the pot to whatever temp the tstat is and see if it opens

Yea ive tried burping it with the heat on full blast and that didnt work, guess I can try it again now that it has cooled down. Its a brand new tstat but ill check it

Not sure how to bypass the temp sensor at all, but if it is a rad I got my 34" from jcwhitney on ebay for $112 shipped. Just throwing it out there if you need one. Sucks to hear man, but don't sell it! you'll regret doing it once you see it drive away

I know how it is chasing a problem around and just throwing parts at it, it sucks. Idk how to bypass the temp sensor either, I've always just put one in if I suspected it. Honestly I would either try that trick with the tstat or just buy another one as cheap as they are. I've bought about 10 over the years and had 2-3 that were bad, idk why but they're hit or miss sometimes.

Might have to check into that when the funds come available :shake:

I dont really wanna sell it but ive just been having problems with it left and right. If I was to sell it id definitely have another low static truck though.

That's exactly why I traded mine in, was having lots of problems. First the clearance problems with the headers, couldn't run the front dshaft cuz of it, then the trans started slipping and I caught the Coyote bug. BYE BYE. :nono: Regretted it ever since

So im pretty sure its a blockage now. I went back out and let it run with the cap off and the heat wide open and it did great for almost 30 minutes. Temp didnt go past 200 and the hoses never got hot as well as the heat was blowing hot. Right about the 30 minute mark the temp started going up until it reached 240-250 ish when I shut it off.

Guess the next step will be pulling the radiator out and flushing it out of the truck and go from there.

Well as I think everybody probably already knows I traded my ltz's for a set of polished tahoes with 275/40s a few nights ago. Tires are perfect height wise but now ill have to roll the rear fenders. also definitely gonna have to raise it up some (which i planned on anyway) as its laying trans crossmember now with the shorter tire. On to the pictures.

And after a quick wipe with mother's mag and aluminum polish this morning.

They need a good polish. They have some light scratches in the clear but im very happy with my trade. Next step is getting the overheating problem fixed so I can drive the damn thing, swap keys/blocks, and throw the esky pulls back in. Then I need to make a trip to shreve to swap bohall for a chrome bumper.

Chrome bumper will be sweet. I wish I could find some around here that are in good shape.
Yea I havent had any luck finding any local to trade. Luckily bohall has one I can get. I cant wait to get it swapped though!
Looks great man, always loved those wheels. That sits so lowwwwww
Thanks man! Yea ive always loved tahoes on lowered trucks. Its super low. If I drove it, it would be a non stop static scrape. Lmao.
