Got the new 20s mounted up yesterday. They look so much better than the tahoes. I love the look.

Thanks bro! I really like them a lot too. Couldn't pass up the deal I got and I really wanted to get rid of those tahoe 20s lol.

Also I snagged a set of door sills out of an avalanche at the junk yard today for $20. They have the "brushed aluminum" inserts. Much better than the stock black ones.

Sold those sss 22s for $650 a couple of days ago. Had $250 invested in them but i was only out $105 total since I bought the chrome 20s.

Also ordered a new tires for my 24s finally. I miss this look.

What size tires are you running on the 24’s? I’m wanting to lower mine 4/6 on a 285/30/24 on 9.5 rim. I’m not sure if it will rub or not though

These are 295/30s. They rub a little but I'm at 6/9. You would be fine with 285/30s or even 295/30s.

Small update. Decided to start up a small detailing gig on my days off. Looking to change jobs soon. with my kiddo starting school this year and the way my hours are, it's not gonna work out very well. I figure if I can get this up and running and get a couple of cars a week, it will reduce the impact of possibly taking another job that may not start out making what I am now.

I've been investing in the necessary tools to make this a legit business and I've been enjoying the ease of cleaning my own truck with the right stuff

So far I've purchased the following:
- electric 1600psi pressure washer
- foam cannon
- wheel brushes
- micro fiber towels
- window squeegee
- interior dusters
- detail cart
- windshield cleaner and a few other odds and ends.

I also have a shop vac and a buffer. Still have a few things I'm planning on buying along with some good soap, air freshener, etc. Ordered some business cards this morning to start handing out to friends and people at work.

Looking forward to see how far I can take this and see what I can learn along the way. If anybody has any tips or tricks they want to share, I'm all ears. :shake:

Been thinking about doing the same as well once I’ve gathered the necessary tools and products, but without me being able to be mobile I don’t think it’s something that is realistic for me. Especially with the kids and my work hours.

If you can snag a trailer and a water tank to be able to go to the customers, you’ll get a lot more business that way. And maybe even a pop up tent to detail under in case there’s no shade around.

From my research, the best thing to do is to offer multiple levels of detail. Most customers will just want a basic wash/wash and wax. So you could do a starter exterior wash/dry/detail spray and tire shine to make it pop. Then have the interior be like a 10-15 dollar upgrade. Then next level is wash/clay bar/wax with interior being extra. And then a full blown interior/exterior true detail with buffing and sealant and the works.

Yea the plan is to eventually get a trailer, water tank and generator and be fully mobile. For now it will just be setup where they can either drop off or I can pick it up and bring it back detailed. A tent would be sweet as well. I'm still working on a price list and different tiers. I want to be fair price wise but I don't want to donate my time either lol.

Been a while. A lot has happened since the last update in here.

Cracked one of my 24s in 3 places. Starter went out. And for the last week or so, the truck has been idling rough when I started it up. It would clear up and run fine after a minute or so. Ran the codes and found out it was fouling out an o2 sensor and I could hear an exhaust leak on the passenger side. Took it to get the exhaust fixed and found out that several primaries on both headers were cracked beyond repair. One was completely in 2 pieces!

Contacted a buddy who is a dealer for several speed parts companies and he got me hooked up with a set of stainless 1 3/4" speed engineering long tubes for a really good deal. Got all the old shit out today and got the new new on. My exhaust guy was booked up until close but it's going in the morning. Very happy with the fit and finish of the headers. They basically fell into place and fit great.

Decided I'm gonna reuse my x pipe and bullets but I'm scraping the rest and going with all new stuff.

As for the other issues... I replaced the starter and that fixed the intermittent starting issue that I mentioned way earlier in this thread. And the 24s are in storage until I can either buy another wheel or find somebody that can fix the cracks with some kind of warranty.

Quick rundown of recent events...
-Got the 24s fixed
-Bought a tri fold vinyl bed cover for cheap
-Cracked (and repaired) a rear brakeline
-Got rear ended

Old man rear ended me at a yield sign this morning on the way to take my kiddo to school. Said his foot slipped off the brake when he was pulling up. Still waiting to hear back from his insurance company.

Other than that just been racking up miles on this pig. Just rolled 165k the other day.

I thought about a shaved gate. It's still a possibility but I've really been enjoying the functionality of this bedcover so I may not right now.
Ideally I'd like to find an all terrain rear bumper that doesnt cost and arm and a leg. I want a solid rear bumper rather than the bullshit that comes on these trucks but we'll see.

Shaved gate with remote popper and trunk/hood struts so it lowers on it own but doesn’t slam down, hide a pull cable behind the bumper so if the battery dies you can get in the bed. Clean gate and bed cover pure win plus imagine the fucking dad power move at Lowe’s when you pop the tailgate from inside and it lowers without just dropping

Find you a cheap 2014+ bumper that's in decent shape to get all the brackets and support out of and then by the stepless skin. That's what I did. Then shaved the sensor holes because you can't get one without them. You can get an aftermarket stepless bumper complete for $280 though. The skin cost me $150. So unless you get the bumper for less than $100, its cheaper to just buy the whole thing.

I really love how that looks. Where did you get the skin? I'd definitely like to go that route if I can find one cheap enough. Still havent bought anything. Picked up a new daily and been messing with it so the truck has been waiting.
