Chevy 5.3 vs 6.0

The 1500hd with 6.0 is what I'm talking about .. So either way 5.3 or 6.0 I should get a shift kit ?

The 1500HD has the 4L80E tranny, so you'll be alright with a 6.0 then. I had an '01 1500HD, loved that truck besides the gas mileage

It has power windows & 18

it also has dual climate and its not a complete base model but has no center console and 4x4 on the floor and shitty rims ... i have no idea what trucks like that go for around there but 8,500 for a 11 year old truck with 120k seems high but it also seems like it has been taken care of in the pictures anyway

so i am not saying don't buy it but just make sure your not getting ripped off

i bought my truck fully loaded with everything but a sunroof and leather, for 11000 from a dealer. this was when the truck was 6 years old and had 110k miles on it.

also do you do any towing, if not your better off with a 1500 not a HD, the HD's weigh a lot more, and generally have higher gear ratios for towing so you will burn more gas.

The 1500HDs usually came with 3.73s. That being said, I got an average of 12 mpgs on 315/70-17s and slightly more on 265/75-16s. Imo, go with a regular 1500

On the other hand that 1500hd would make a great base for a pretty quick truck with the 6.0 80e trans and 3.73 but if that's not what you are after then go with a 1500

6.0s are just as reliable as a 5.3/4.8 given they are all maintained the same.

6.0s you will of course gain that low end torque as well as good bump of horse power but will also drop some mileage. However with the added torque you could run a higher gear to compensate than say you would run with a 5.3 or 4.8.

L33 5.3 has flat tops
all 4.8s have flat tops
lq9 6.0 has flat tops.

The lq9 runs flat tops with a better head for a slight bump in compression. However both 6 liters are iron blocks

as far as i can remember, the one guy i worked with had one, i remember the frame being bigger like the 2500hd then small like the normal 1500

You are right, it has the beefed up frame for sure.

and i believe its 03+ has aluminum heads. before that was cast iron iirc
99-00 had iron heads. 99-00 LQ4's crank not compatible with 60e.

1500HD is same truck as 2500 non-HD. Some had 3:73s some had 4:10s. Both 9.5 14b SF.
1500HD frames are not the same as 1500 or 2500HD trucks.
