Picked this up a couple weekends ago. Its a 99 with the newer front end, and 05+ Silverado tail lights. Bagged with a 2 link/watts link in the rear, and factory arms in the front. I think the uppers are flipped, with just upper and lower cups. Its got an EDC that I'm still learning about, supplying 2 5 gallon tanks under the bed. 3/8" valves with a AVS switch box. Been painted with the Chrysler blue from 09-10 challengers, surf blue (PQD). A bunch of small stuff I'm missing. This thread will mainly be to track progress as I make it my own.

Crappy roll in liner that's starting to lift in places. Its on the list of things to be replaced.

Interior, seats were swapped in from a Regency truck.

Engine Bay

1st project was to fix the broken tail gate handle. The PO gave me a new handle and bezel.

I unscrewed the bezel and found a rough cut hole and rust everywhere. I'm working on cleaning up the rust and cuts now.

Thanks, I've been on GMfullsize, Fullsizechevy, and s10forum for years. Just found this one recently.

Love that color. Handful of things I'd change but overall it's sick. The grille bars being blue makes the front end look cheap to me. I know it matches but I'd rather have black or solid billet, needs clear lights, the amber stand out bad lol, and colormatched rear plastics and I think exterior would be perfect. Interior is clean, only other thing I'd do is a 3 link. Badass truck. Looking forward to progress

Thanks, I actually like the blue grille, makes the emblem stand out for some reason. Agreed on the rest though. Except these denalis are a bitch to clear. Ran some in a previous Sierra I had. I managed to retro fit them, just never got around to cutting them apart.

Decided to clean up the tailgate handle flip and replace the broken handle.

Started with this

Attempted to even out the hole. Didn't want to go to big with it incase I can track down one of the flip kits that puts the OBS handle in the gate instead of the NBS. Pretty sure the hole is already to big for that kit though.

Got rid of all the surface rust and threw some rattle can bed liner on to make it blend in better.

All finished for now.

Depending on the hole and how warped the tail gate is I might end up just getting a new one down the road.

Also picked up everything to install the hood shocks to get rid of having to hold the hood all the time. Though I would be creative and rivet the brackets one. I wouldn't recommend this way. About ruined my hood when the rivets ripped through. Apparently the sheet metal wasn't thick enough for the rivets I had. So I ended up bolting them in until I can get ahold of a HD hood. Then I'll get new brackets and just weld them in.

I was pretty disappointed after so I didn't get any pics of them finished. You can kinda see them in the pic I took for the air filter setup on the EDC.

And a close up of the filter I added. Just picked up a 3/4" to barb fitting from lowes that threaded on. Then bought a cheap specter filter from autozone. I had to take off the stem part of the filter and enlarge it with a dremel to fit over the barb on the filter but it worked out good. Even clears the hood without rubbing.

can you dm me and let me know what yopu paid for it....if you dont mind?

Lastly I deleted the AHL with the 1.5k ohm resistor. Had a bunch of these left over from buying them for my last truck.

Unplugged the purple connector from the BCM and clipped the grey and white wire. A4 and A6 wire locations in the connector. Soldered in the resistor and covered it in heat shrink.

Still need to do the 4hi mod, but at least now they don't come on every time I start the truck in the garage.

Been poking around the truck some, decided to check the filter for the water trap and found this.

No filter was in the water trap, and completely full of sludge. Not sure about these EDC's and water traps. Are you supposed to run 2? Apparently 1 isn't doing the job. No telling how long it had been full though.

Once I seen this I decided to drain the tank and add a drain plug. IT just had a regular plug in it so I got 2 drain cocks to replace both tanks.

Apparently I had about 10psi left in the tank cause this crap went everywhere in the cup I had under it.

I let it drain for awhile while I was trying to get the 2nd's tanks drain out, its hit the ground and is ruined. This is what all came out of the 1st tank. I let it sit open over night. Going to flush the tank tonight. Not sure what to run through it.

The video is after it had been going for awhile.

ewwwwwwwwwww

Yeah my whole garage smells like that crap now.

Anyone know where I can buy these clips? Ive tried every parts store around with no luck. They hold the window switch bezel on 99-02 gm door panels.

Removed the chrome caps off the door handles this weekend. The pass side was the test dummy and I nicked it a little. Lesson learned and the driver side came off fine. Turns out these were original black textured handles that were sanded down. Eventually Ill buy some smooth Tahoe handles and just paint them to match.

Got the 4hi mod done too, due to the fuse box being moved around and not much room to work with I just grounded the yellow wire at each bulb instead of the fuse box.

And since it was halfway clean and free of stickers I took some pics of the exterior.

Close up of a strut/mount. You can see its bent to hell. That's from the failed rivet attempt. As soon as I track down an HD hood i'll get 2 new ones and just weld them on since I'll have to paint it anyways.

Need updates on this ASAP.

Still working on it. I've got several projects going on and need parts for all of them.

Trying to replace the tailgate because of all the waves in this one. Turns out the one I bought had several big dents under the black cap, and was rusting form the inside out. So I'm still on the hunt for a decent tailgate.

Also trying to fix the radio mount situation. I bought a new 99-02 gauge bezel so at least the HVAC controls will fit decent then I can make the radio fit from there. Turns out they gutted the factory radio cage so I haven't got much to mount too. So now i'm on the hunt for a new 99-02 radio cage and HVAC controls.

The new one has a hole from a previous toggle switch. I though it would be a good place to mount the toggle for my pressure switch instead of under the dash.

This is the radio mount I'm dealing with now.

I've got the radio pulled out now and its got a mess of wiring in behind it. Looks like extra speakers were mounted at 1 point in time do to extra wiring. So I'm going to be cleaning all that up.

In the middle of all this since it was 70 degrees in December here I rented a dumpster and started a remodel on my detached garage. That slowed things down quite a bit.

It got cold again so I out the truck in my attached so I could work on some stuff here and there. I bought a wiring harness from the same guy the tailgate and bezel came from. Pulled the turn signal plugs from it and got them wiring in. My clear corners were so cheap the light sockets fit in both the drl and turn signal positions so that worked out.

So its all apart trying to finish multiple things.

Any idea what the color of the truck is?

Chrysler color, surf blue, code is PQD.

nice to see it is getting worked on. Stoked to see this build complete.

Thanks, all the big stuff is done. The more I dig into the small stuff though the more I find wrong. Its tucked in the torn apart garage for now. Dealing with all the flooding Missouri is getting for a little while.

Heres where its sitting until I get back to it.

And there it is with the view of the new pond mother nature installed.

I did manage to get the headlights out and apart to swap in some Mini H1 projectors. I got the adapter plates to use the denali lights, but turns out these were aftermarket lights so its not going as smooth as I hoped.

The lens separated way before the projector. So the lens is butyl but the projector is something like permaseal. Damn near destroyed the 1st light getting the projector out.

Since its aftermarket the brackets are not lining up as I would have hoped. So its still a work in progress. And I haven't pulled the 2nd projector yet. At least it was easy to get the orange out of them.
