from what I've seen on cl people want your first born son for an lq9 when you can find one. And I'm sure wrecking yards are just as high. I just can see paying 2500-3k for a used engine that I would have to rebuild

Then don't rebuild. I paid 1700 for my lq4 with 82k and warranty
