Best pistons for lq4

um, compression can be high for naws.....doesnt have to be low CR :slap:


I guess it "could", How good are you with EFILive/ HP tuners? I'm not that good.

There are people running extremely high compression and boost/nitrous, is it the "norm" no, is it "safe" by most means/standards, no.

I'm recommending this based on personal experience and the assumption that this is to be a drive able machine ( possibly DD) with the OP looking to possibly get it tuned via mail order/cable tune from Justin or similar for the sake of simplicity and costs.

If this is a " lets see how much power I can make" toy then by all means, go nuts. I always appreciate something different. You will probably spend thousands of dollars and days of your life trying to get it dialed in, and it may never be dialed in enough to your liking.

Nitrous is a weird game to play. Lots of variables.
 
Q. What is the best compression ratio to run with nitrous?

A. Nitrous can be run successfully with almost any compression, however we have found that 14-1 is the highest ratio that has a reasonable “Window of Safety”. Ratios as high as 17-1 can be used, but only by elite tuners with years of experience. Using alcohol as an enrichment fuel will allow you to run higher compression ratios without fear of detonation.

Q. What do you mean “Window of Safety”?

A. The Window of Safety refers to how easy or safe it is to run a specific amount of nitrous on s specific engine. For instance, running a 100HP nitrous system on a crate engine with 9-1 compression is very easy and has a wide Window of Safety, but to run a 1,000HP triple stage system on a 816CID ProMod with 17-1 compression the Window of Safety is very, very narrow. Even the slightest tuning error will have an undesirable result.

No it shouldn't, esp on 93 oct or above.

The window just gets a bit more narrow.... Is it worth swapping pistons? IMO no, but that's for the OP to decide.

He should buy new pistons anyway might as well just call cp and have them make up some flat tops and ship some Carrillo rods with it
 
Stock pistons are like $65 a piece off rock auto plus shipping, can get cp pistons for 670 for a set of 8 and free shipping :notbad: if u ask me
 
Damn totally forgot about this thread lol but I'm just going ahead and buying wiesco pistons and scat rods. And I don't tune it myself I'm tuned by chief lol
