BARBER's 2008 Silvy - Recent Updates

:hng: @ Zero's old truck. Should do denali tails. Those look awesome untinted. I get what you're saying about flowing nicely with the powder, they probably would. For some reason tho they stick out too much in my head....hell, idk lol

Silvy and GMC aren't interchangeable on NNBS's...

This weekend is the Counts Car Show put on by the Counts of the Cobblestone Car Club here in Rapid City. I entered the 08 into the show last year and got first place and had intentions of entering once again. Since I was so busy with the stock show and Valentine's Day with my rose business, I never got my application in on time. I did e-mail the guy doing the applications to inquire about any openings and never received anything back until Tuesday saying they had some cancellations and if I wanted in, I was welcome to. Otherwise I had figured to just say fuck it and not worry about the car show as I got plenty of things to be working on here at the ranch especially with calving coming up.

But, I called in some favors and only had Wednesday night to get it half ass cleaned up and ready for the show. A good hand wash and went over it with my buffer and some machine polish plus cleaning the inside I called it good enough. It cleaned up well and didn't need too much. The axle and frame does have some rust spots coming through my paint from the couple times I've driven it this winter, I didn't take the time to fix those spots. They aren't that noticeable, its mostly the axle. Loaded it on the trailer last night and hauled it up and got it set up in the Civic Center and gave it a good final wipe down and dressed the tires.

The show ends on Sunday and I just got off the phone about a storage unit since I did some work on my shed lately, we built a little work shop in one corner and got shit moved around so much that I don't have room for this thing right at the moment. Since it's been sitting outside for the last two weeks, I plan on storing it until late April. Since I got my Duramax back together I don't need to be driving this during the winter time. Onto the pics...

All my buddies Peterbilts. They're all stretched to 300~ inch wheelbases with pushers.

A couple more pictars.

After the show was over on Sunday, and I had spoke to the guys from Fotomotive who are a small group of three guys who photograph cars and vehicles and such, we went down and across the street to the local elevator and on the east side of the elevator which is more of the feed mill part of it made for a decent spot to shoot some pictures. I've never had any professional shots down before so I had them take 20-30 minutes to shoot some pictures in this spot. Then the elevator manager and asked us to move on since it was private property.

I snapped a couple pics with my phone during this time as well. It will probably be a week to 10 days before I get the pics back that the Fotomotive guys took. Maybe longer since they got a pile of pics to go through of the car show.

Another pic of it at the show that a friend took

As far as how the show went, I didn't make it to the awards presentation at 6:00 Saturday night because I had cows calving and needed to stay near home. So I don't know how or where I placed. I'm pretty sure there was just me and maybe one other truck in my category. I'm 99% positive I took first place. Anyways on Sunday when I spoke to a guy who puts together the show, he didn't have anything at that moment that listed the results and said they'd contact me and let me know. Also, Sunday morning is when they pass out the awards and while I didn't have anything beside my pickup, he said since they had so many late entries they didn't have the awards made yet.....aka....my award will have to be made. So in time, I'll most likely be receiving something in the mail.

After the quick photo shoot this thing went right into storage. Signed a lease on Friday and it will be parked until late April perhaps. I had some work done in my shop at my place so everything is all rearranged and disorganized and I have no room to park this inside at the moment. It had been sitting out for a week or more before the car show. So this was a good idea for me.

God-like....Love this truck

Proud to say my headers were on this truck at one time

Thanks you guys. That storage unit is a 10x20 and this thing BARELY fit inside of it. I'm a fraction of an inch to the back wall and had maybe two inches at the front to shut the door.

Was talking to Kyle about this the other day and I wouldn't mind changing up the look of this thing a little bit. Starting with different wheels and tires. Yes I know I'm crazy for thinking this...but...I would like to make it a little bit more practical. I just don't drive this thing anymore...at all. It probably sees 80-200 miles a month...if that.

I kind of miss the all black colormatched front end and bumpers with billet inserts. My thoughts was to wrap the chrome on the bumpers and swap my colormatched grill back on, lower the front an inch, and run TBSS replicas in 22x9 gunmetal grey with 34" Nittos.

This was right after the lift with 20x9s and 33" Nittos

...I should have indulged a little more on my thoughts of changing up the looks. Now, I wouldn't change it up until this fall...if I decided to do so or not. If it was more practical, I know I'd drive it a lot more. Instead of being scared to drive over 20mph on the few miles of gravel I do have to drive or having to only drive it when it's completely dry out. I'd also like to build up the drivetrain...cam, heads, forced induction of some kind...or a built 6.0. I'd LOOOVVEE to build up a diesel killer. In that sense...10 bolt plus 2in. spacers plus 12 inch wides....:beaker:

Yeah that equals a million pieces of spider gears and the center pin through the diff cover. Been there....

I think the black front looks okay, but I'd stick to chrome because it's easier to clean off than an all black front. I do like the lifted truck on tbss replicas idea, but 34s are too big especially if you plan on adding any power to it

I thought the all black color matched look would flow nicely with the grey wheels. That was my initial thought. If I didn't like it I could swap back to chrome.

Yea I know I got the best of both worlds... A smokin' twin turbo'ed Duramax and then a super clean, head turning half ton gasser. I would just love to build this thing up into something fast and powerful because NOBODY around here has a fast gas powered pickup. Everyone has diesels.
