Why not keep what u have? Would hate going from ccsb to rcsb. Going to an ecsb from a ccsb would be bad enough..
I prefer 99-02 bc I'm partial to 01/02 HD front ends. 99-02 are usually a lot cheaper. 99-02 has 4 wheel disk brakes. 99-02 usually have DBC which is much better/nicer to drive imo.
03-07 have a lil better interior. Fancy DIC, factory double din dash,, etc.
Efans are like >$200 so not a deciding factor for me. I'd buy whatever you get a REALLY good deal on.
Actually, I'd keep ccsb lbz
I've gone back and forth about 10 times, and decided it'd be better for me to get out of this truck now. Injectors along with cp3 pump are bound to go out at anytime, and both of those are pretty expensive for me to replace. Transmission would need to be built for me to run anymore power than stock, and even if I pulled it and built it myself it would be $3k+. Pretty much I wouldn't be satisfied with this truck until I replaced injectors, cp3, and rebuilt the trans, and all those together is what the truck cost me. Not practical for me to keep through college, when any of those 3 parts could take a shit and I wouldn't be able to replace them.
Here's how I look at it. In an LS based gasser, I could send a rod through the block, and be out of ~$500 for another long block and a weekends worth of work to replace it. In an LBZ Duramax on the other hand, if I send a rod through the block, I'm out of ~$10k+ for parts, and have absolutely no idea how to fix it. Same goes for transmission, 4l60e rebuild is about $600 + core, Allison 6 speed rebuild is about $3500 + core.
Another part of this not many people know, is that my parents bought me this truck, and are making monthly payments on it. I feel like a shit head worthless child having my parents make a car payment for me, so if I can sell this truck, pay it off ($7k), and buy another truck with the left over money I'll be way happier with myself as a person, and save my parents a lot of money.
