First off, sorry if i didn't post in the correct section. Wasn't sure where to post this.

My question is, has anyone ever made their truck a short bed? What i'm talking about is the option that came out in the 05/06 ext cabs. I know the bed measures 5.8 feet, and its basically the bed off of a 4 door. I'm really considering making my 01 ext cab a shortbed, and of course later on adding the 06 front. So my question is has anyone ever done this? Any pics? I'd appreciate the advice thanks.

When I was looking for my current truck, all I could find for a while were long beds. After a lot of research, the best option was to find a custom big rig shop. They shorten and lengthen frames all day. Would be about $1k. Then all you have to do is shorten your driveshaft, new brake lines, and roll up the excess electrical wires.
 
The only person on here who has swapped beds and/or shortened a frame is Cornell :corny:. I think I would like to have a 5'8" bed myself. I like the way they look on ecsb.

There was a black truck a while back that had the 5.8 bed on a reg cab, looked like a matchbox toy. :dnw:

on a reg cab i'd imagine it would look a bit out of place. i've seen it on a ext cab, looks damn good. With the perfect tire and wheel combo, you'd break some necks.

for the life of me i have not been able to find any damn info on a ext cab short bed, i want to know what the wheel base is so i can figure out what driveshaft i would have to use, and as well the gas tank etc
 
There's 2 around here, they look weird as hell to me. Just did a little search but also couldn't find any real info. :shrug:
 
Never seen anyone actually do the swap on ecsb. Only seen the factory option ones.

me either..i had a buddy do a PS on my truck...not sure if i dig it..ill post it up later...either way im going 06 front and wheels are going to be changed down the road as well going to paint it red. so idk what the purpose of the chop was..just asked for it. lol
 
Yea there used to be a member here with a red one from louisiana. Was dropped on billets, then lifted. Can't remember his name though.
