Programming two key fobs

I only had one key fob (#2) for my truck so Timmy sent me another(#1)

Whenever I program the new one, my old one stops working. Then when I reprogram the original one then other stops working. I went back and forth a few times and can't get them to both work at the same time.

Any idea wtf is wrong?

Here is the process as per GM. Remember that all your key fobs must be programmed at the same time since once you begin this process the truck erases all previous fobs.

1. Close all the vehicle doors.

2. Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder.

3. Press and hold the door unlock switch.

4. While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, cycle the ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF.

5. Release the door unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm the program mode.

6. Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of approximately 15 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter.

7. Repeat the previous step to program up to 4 transmitters.

8. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter programming mode.

9. Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation

Got it man, thanks. Had to do both transmitters at once like you said earlier.

Is "ON" the same as "ACC" or "RUN"? I realize you don't start the truck.

Yea I'm pretty sure it is. It's been a little bit since I done mine.

What is all the way back facing the driver? Is that aux. or acc?

my 06 goes off-acc-on-start

iirc my 01/02 were both acc-off-on-start but not positive on that one, may be thinking about other vehicles

Fogle, are the reprogram instructions the same for vehicles with remote start?
